Use Liquid Silicon by Growth Technology for pH up. It’s great for the plant stems and it also increases pH.

UPDATE: I’m only using GH Maxibloom and Liquid Silicon (as a pH up but it obviously doubles up as a perfect plant nute). Plants are growing okay - slower than I thought but that’s more about me expecting them to turn into trees within two weeks :D

My tap water ppm is 72 and EC 0.1 yes. I meant to write EC below one above.

What a day...been concerned about res temps all day. They were around 71-72 (assuming my TDS/temp meter is fully accurate - I'm not sure it is)... Then I've just started to smell a mild whiffy smell from the res - possibly the beginnings of root rot, even though I don't have any visible roots...

I don’t think it’s damping off tbh - they’d be stretched and drooping. I agree with @THT. That said, Google ‘damping off’ just so you can learn how to avoid it

My hydro is dry on the top but slightly submerged at the bottom. I'm reluctant to water the top because I think the root riots are still a little wetter than they should be, so I'm also waiting for them to lose some of their moisture. Is this okay, or should I dig up the hydroton and squeeze...

Could be damping off, could be nothing.

Still no visible growth not sure why. Maybe root riot too wet. Res temp: 21.8 (18.4 yest) pH: 6.11 (increased since yest) EC: can’t remember exact but decreased PPM: as above

I intend on doing so, yeah. With a little bit of Liquid Silica (also raises pH which is good because MaxiBloom lowers pH) and Cal-Mag (when needed)

I'm a newbie so take what I say with a pinch of salt BUT The water isn't just evaporating, your plants are drinking the water. The pH/EC sudden changes are because your plants are drinking the water.
