    Topping

I prefer to fim, instead of top. Topping stunts growth a lot longer. Fiming is basically just pinching the top bud off. Its less stress and accomplishes the same goal quicker.

@Fish scale dropping some classics on this thread. :blsmoke: Cheers

F1 Purp Valley Ice x SSH

I gave one plant a soft flush today. 4 cups of water, to help her out. This plant is displaying the strongest SSH traits. But as ive mentioned several times throughout the thread, she is a light feeder and sensitive to N.This is how everything is looking today. They are taking in 1 cup of water...

    Blaze & Daze

There were some good posts recently. This thread flows like a movie with multiple storylines. I might also be high... ate too much flower. :eyesmoke: My Valley Ice x SSH project is going well. I count the days until the flip :weed:

Leaves look like they being ate

The leaf damage is caused by a nute burn. Not bug damage.

    F4 Valley Ice _ 72 beans

Here is an update on this project. They were all topped and transplanted a week ago. Some of them are displaying a lot of vigor. One of the things I’m doing, is watering them in the middle of the day, when its hottest. I want to put all of them through the ringer so that the robust plants really...

F1 Purp Valley Ice x SSH

The plants are drinking half a cup of water a day, some of them 1 cup. Judging by the rate of growth, I think I can flip them sometime next week. Ive decided to take a cutting from what is officially plant #3. She is starting to really fill out and the rate of growth has sped up. She looks a...

    What is this

LOL Caterpillar. Not good for cannabis plants.

Why is my plant growing new shoots in the middle of the leaf stem

All of the clones from the same strain are doing this? Or all of your plants, multiple strains, are doing this?

    Seed confusion

All of those are good stressors. Small pots, hot soil, lack of water/wilting, high temps, etc. You dont have to do all of the above, a few tests will suffice. I grew an Amnesia Haze that I put through the ringer, including light stress, and she never hermied. She kept pushing like a champ. I...

F1 Purp Valley Ice x SSH

I did some pruning and defoliating today. I rarely defoliate, but in this case it seemed necessary. Im trying to get a full and even canopy before I flip them. Im going to flip them to 10/14 to reduce the initial stretch. I did an experiment with this on my previous crop and it worked out well...
  13. Farmer's Hat

    Seed confusion

Stress test the male and female that you select, for every generation. You want to avoid plants that herm when stressed. This will help you create a more stable strain in the long run. Males can be stress tested with light. A strong stable male will not herm, no matter what. Finding a female...

    Problem with canabiss

Why did you switch nutrients to Canna, if you have had success and satisfaction with Mills? I would just switch back to the nutrients that have worked well for you. I personally dont think your plants look bad. Its just a minor deficiency.

Why is my plant growing new shoots in the middle of the leaf stem

Its just a mutation. Genetics. Nothing to fret about, it looks cool.

    Problem with canabiss

bongsmilie They dont look too bad. Ive seen worse. LOL Have you made any of the recommended adjustments? :eyesmoke:
  17. Farmer's Hat

feminized and non feminized plants bred

I dont think thats true. Its hard to know what genes are dominant/recessive without growing a few dozen plants of each strain. The only way to know whats what is to grow out a few dozen F1 plants. If your trying to unlock more genetic variation, select and cross the uncommon F1 plants. By the...
  18. Farmer's Hat

feminized and non feminized plants bred

Growers do this all the time. No one can predict wether the F1 progeny will have a high number of hermaphrodites. You just have to test a few dozen seeds. As you continue with your breeding project, select the plants that are hardy/stable and take them to F2, F3, etc. Make sure to thoroughly...
  19. Farmer's Hat

    Seed confusion

You can backross to the original parent whenever you want. Back crossing is mostly for locking down certain traits/phenotypes. For example, the male has a thin sharp leaf structure, and the female has a fat leaf structure. Lets say that all of F1 plants inherited the fat leaf pheno, and your...
