    My first soil test results

After finishing my first grow in a no-till soil, i sent samples to Logan Labs and to soil Savvy to help with my re-amending the soil. Results are in, but i'm honestly not sure what to do with them and was hoping to get some input. My soil: 20 gallons Sphagnum 20 gallons EWC 10 gallons Pumice 7...

    Opinion on ACT(Aerated Compost Teas)

I was interested in this as well and did some searching. I was not able to find any research showing a benefit to ACT. I stopped doing them as a result but i do use quite a lot of ewcs and DTE's bio-live and do a top dress with both mid flower as well. There is certainly plenty of anecdotal...

    Reasons for dramatically lower THC?

Retested the two strains that came back at 6 and 8% using a different lab and they confirmed the low numbers were correct. Also tested my latest crop which came in at 17.6%thc and 5.2% terps so i don't think it was my lights. I did however replace all of the de hps in flower because they were...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Sounds like you need to start a worm bin and make your own ewc's with that! :)

Not to any great extent that i'm aware of. I have worms in my pots as well for continued aeration.

I top dress week 5 of flower and then reamend the soil with a top dress between grows. I include aeration (pumice, rice hulls, biochar) mixed in as components of my top dresses

Biochar doesn't really break down. Rice hulls take a long time to breakdown. You don't need to worry about replacing either other than including aeration when you top dress (at least i do)

I have aeration as 1/3 of my base mix. Half of my aeration is pumice. 5% of my aeration is biochar which is supposed to have benefits in developing your mycelial network. The remainder is rice hulls which are good for aeration, moisture retention and when they breakdown(long term) they add...

Some tea to go with that?

If you're at 18 days cooking and havent planted yet, I personally wouldn't go through the hassle of a compost tea and i'm not sure it will make much of a difference. That being said, it won't hurt anything either if you decide to do it. If that's the case, I think Richards recipe is a great option

I don't honestly know. I've grown with coco choir but the mix still had peat moss. I currently have peat moss as 1/3rd of my mix. Between its higher CEC and better moisture retention, for me its an easy decision. I cant think of a specific person at the moment who does no-till in coco choir...

You have peat moss listed in red. Is that a firm stance?

    RO water

I switched from ro to just filtered water and let the water sit a couple of days in 55 gallon barrels. When i first made this switch i continued to use cal-mag but i beefed up my soil (basalt, gypsum, oyster shell) and I activate it and let it sit for 3-4 weeks before using it to give the...

What is a good basic mulch for my living soil.

I buy alfalfa straw from the co-op and use it. Its pretty cheap. You can also use bermuda grass hay. Also from the co-op and cheap. A third option is rice hulls, but it may be a little more difficult to get depending on your location and to me the straw/hay options are easier to work with

    Reasons for dramatically lower THC?

you know, i've always wondered about this. I have my own worm bin and hope to have my own castings starting in November. In the meantime, i found a place that sells worm castings by the yard and purchased from them. I honestly don't know how i would tell what quality they are.

    Reasons for dramatically lower THC?

My current running theories are: These two crops in question were planted at the same time. I wonder if i made a mistake when mixing the soil which created a problem The current DE HPS are a year old. I've ordered new ones and will be replacing all of the bulbs There is a chance its lab error...

    Reasons for dramatically lower THC?

I think i did a poor job of explaining the situation, so let me try to clarify. I have grown the two strains/pheno's in question before. The recent crops were clones from the same mothers. The previous time i grew these two strains we were using: 50% sphagnum 30% perlite 15% ewc's 5% Insect...
