I dont grow hps any more, but when I did I had my 1000 watt bulbs in air cooled hoods on light movers and I could get that big ole bulb 8-12 inches from the canopy with no heat stress or light bleech. Made for some big ole dense buds for sure.

Hmm I dont see any male pre flowers or "nanners" as we call them. Pics are a little blurry. Are there little yellow bannanna looking things growing out of the flowers? Even if they are hermies theres not much you can do now...pluck off the visable nanners and hope for the best.
