Thinking about getting a meter also and noticed they measure either free or total chlorine. I'm assuming we're just checking free chlorine levels but I'm not sure, is this right? Any reason to keep track of total chlorine levels? Can someone educate me on this a little bit? Thanks in advance.
If you don't vent it out of the room it won't get rid of the heat from the light, just circulate it. I also suggest you push the air through the hood instead of pull because if your hood is not 100% air tight (most aren't) you'll be venting smelly air.
As far as intake, you could either pull it...
Try a thick rubber washer or gasket, maybe even a few thinner ones if you can't find some thicker ones. Should be able to find some at the hardware store.
You could also just slide the lid over and use a wet-vac or water pump to suck out all the old nute water, then just dump your fresh batch in. just put an old sock or stocking over the end to keep from sucking up and damaging the roots. Even a bilge pump or siphon would work on the cheap if you...
Unless you get some bad stuff in there (rot, mold , algae) then There is no need to clean it before your done. If you do and need to clean it then you really do need to get the plants out of there to do it correctly (hot water and bleach).
Different nutes measure at different ppm's so you'd have to mix up a gallon and see for yourself if you really want to know.
Basically you monitor ppm's to see how your plants are uptaking nutes. If you feed them at say 500 ppm's for example and the next day you check and they've drank 2...
are you sure it's not just salt buildup from your nute water splashing on them and then drying leaving the salts visable? If it is mold I'm not sure what to suggest other than pouring your ewc tea through the medium instead of directly into the rez. Hope you get it figured out!
Probably better off keeping mothers in soil to keep them from growing too fast, but if your determined to dwc them then just try a very weak nute mix of whatever your using in veg.
Actually never thought to use tap water for ph up. I know one time I had to use 1/2 tap and 1/2 RO because I forgot to refill my storage barrel and had to use a butload of ph down to get it under 6.5 (my tap water apparently has hella buffers in it!). As far a air, I use commercial pumps and...
After getting Slimmed a while back I started using this tea in my rdwc. Worked great at first, but I didn't keep up the maintenance doses like I should, only once a week at best. Then ph started dropping and roots browning (no slime). So I brewed some tea and was sure to dose every 3 days...
Started with the drops until I walked out of my room (hps) and the thing changed color (to a different ph reading) under cfl light. Then I walked over under an incandescent bulb just to see and it changed again! 3 different bulbs, 3 different readings. I immediately went and got a pen and never...
The purpose is to be able to tell how much your girls are eating. You want to find the sweet spot where they are using water and nutes at about the same rate (ppm's stay at about the same level). If ppm's go up your feeding too much and need to lower the amount of nutes your giving them. If they...
I didn't say it helps the plant. I think it helps focus more energy on the top canopy, but I'm by no means an expert, I've just read it on these forums several times and it seems to make sense. My current grow is 5 weeks in flower and I pretty much raped them at 2 weeks in. So much that I felt...
You could also just keep a mother and clone off her 4 weeks before your ready to flower. Top and supercrop her to keep her from getting to big, and if she does get too big for your liking just flower her and grow another mother from one of the clones.
When you grow a plant from seed it will have symmetrical nodes until it matures, then the nodes will be asymmetrical from then on including any clones taken from the mature plant.
