Why do some people trim before harvest?

If you're indoor and have a extra leafy strain, then cutting a few fan leaves here or there won't hurt up through like week three or so flower, depending on the strain of course. Especially to get an even canopy, I will take strategic leaves off up to this point usually all the time combined...

    NFTG. Nectar For The Gods

Ok things are going really really well so far I think, but I did just have an issue, after the last watering I just did which was a full feed after a Gaia flush, the tops of one of my girls got clawed leaves. She was looking a little hungry, not standing up like it should before. I read in the...

This week by week shit is confusing

Yeah good advice here. I also count from switch just to keep track of things... But it's probably way more accurate to go by when you see first flowers. Everyone chops too early I think, myself included lol...

Why do some people trim before harvest?

Yeah, what I usually do is I wait until I chop and then just take the fan leaves at the same time and leave the rest. I like the way the little leaves sugar leaves curl around the bottom of the nugs. Protects the trichs... Then just dry trim it later etc...

Why do some people trim before harvest?

I think it mostly comes down to just being easier to go ahead and chop those off before they droop down after starting to dry. Some defoliation is good for getting the light down to lower flowers, but just a few days before chop it doesn't really do much of anything good or bad in my opinion...

    Strawberry cough

Looks like some good flowers to me! Nice job! I was thinking about this strain the other day wondering what it looked like, so know I know... Let us know how it is!

    Please help :(

Ok that should be plenty of light I would think, could turn up the LED's probably... I think you did the right thing by flushing... Hopefully you won't see it spreading or get worse.

    Please help :(

How much light out of curiosity? Have you checked runoff for ppms/ph? I don't think the tops look bad at all honestly, just looks like normal leaf growth, maybe some burnt tips a little bit. But the bottom, if I had to guess looks like nute lockout/burn to me... Could be wrong though... I think...

    NFTG. Nectar For The Gods

Here's a pic of one of these big fan leaves and the flowers - right after she woke up... although I am seeing a little bit of clawing still here and there, nothing that has me concerned... probably from needing the flush I just did or pushing too hard too fast if I had to guess. Also need to...

    NFTG. Nectar For The Gods

So the Gaia flush went really great. Girls perked up immediately and next day all the big leaves are nice and straight / pointing upwards. Flower growth has really started to take off too, although on this big girl, it's still one of the slowest to flower I've ever seen, which has me excited...

    NFTG. Nectar For The Gods

Thanks guys I knew you would have good advice! Yeah slurry was 560 ppm, 6.5 ph for the droopiest one. What went in two days ago was around 960ppm/6.4 so I think she's eating pretty good it seems. Just started upping the Herc as you said last time. Also was thinking about a Gaia flush, good idea!

    NFTG. Nectar For The Gods

Hey, finally seeing some flowers on my new crop... This is my first crop from seed using NFTG... I'm using NFTG soil #4, mixed with some Happy Frog that I had left over. Following the "advanced" schedule for the most part - still using up my Big bloom, Photo+ as well. Three bag seeds! This...

Can you make the buds change colors?

I forgot to add that also getting my purple strain seeded up turns it really pretty purple too oddly. Basically when the flowers swell up.. so waiting until a proper finish will do it for the right purple strains.

Can you make the buds change colors?

I've got a strain that will sometimes turn a beautiful deep purple, but most of the time it just shows purple on the tips of the flowers near the top. However, yes difference in day/night temps will do it, I left the window open this winter at night and got a beautiful purple harvest, however...

    ppm in/ppm out

In general, what goes in should be higher than what comes out. I've always been told that if what comes out is higher then you need to back off on what's going in. It basically means the plant is not eating everything you are giving it...

    Is my harvest far away?

Yeah, I'm still just learning that I've been chopping too early for a long time... It honestly took me by surprise when I realized how much better it is to wait a lot longer than I was, especially since i was cutting out nutes way too early.
