I'm back,,,and starting my 2nd grow

Hey my friend, came by to check out the album to see what I could do. I'll be sending you a private message too (too lengthy for your VM ). Anyways, the plants look AWESOME, are you serious mate!? The slight under curling is water related, maybe pH or amount, can't really tell color-wise. If the curling areas are still green that's consistent with the leaf it's pH, if it's changed color to a yellow or brown, it's over watering my friend. They look great though, my personal opinion is your soil mixture is a little dense and it's withholding moisture and not running off properly. lol,,, i like your notes,,reminds me so much of getting to work in australia last year!!!
they use "cheers" and "mate" all the time.
like i said,,, i am lucky enough to travel (alot),, and what i have learned is, us americans have our pantys in such a bunch, that it really sucks!
the aussies,dutch,canadians, and many more, all have such a much more laid back attitude towards cannibis then us americans.
we would rather jail someone for a joint,, then spend our resorces trying to catch a true criminal.

i have looked at alot of other "posts" and have seen the extent of some peoples "grow",,, which i tired to assure my wife,, my 3 little G-13 haze, are really not that big of a deal.
i have gone as far as research my states drug and cultavation laws,
thanks again for all the advice,,, i try to do my reading, i take notes, and i listen to others,, and for you i thank you.

my life is pretty simple,,, i check this forum, every morning, (except today,, i was excitied to see what info u may have wrote).
so from now on,, i look in the morning and send out the replys.
one thing i forgot to tell was,,, when i started,, i burnt one plant,,cause i didnt have the grow light yet,,lol,,beleive it or not,, it is coming back,, and might just make it.
one personel question i might ask is,,, what is your fav? anything" northern lights? white widow" ak-47.....

I'm all for freedom Derby, I'm just trying to be a support for inexperienced growers or those with a thirst for the knowledge to grow correctly and efficiently and with an understanding and respect for the plants. I can see your photos and they look very nice to be completely honest. SH is a great company and they offer good reliable products, the 430w SonAgro is a beautiful lighting system, the plants will LOVE you believe me. If you ever want to get into hydroponics or bubbleponics, Stealth is one of the best for grow systems.

I would highly recommend reading through every and anything in the FAQ section at the top of every page. I've gone through everything there and hundreds of other sources to quench my thirst, I know there's always a better way, a greener way, or a more feasible way. I've compiled lots of my grows into paper form so to teach and learn from my mistakes and this is absolutely the best way to learn and build credibility within RIU. Learn everything you can about your medium (soil by the looks of things) and just take it upon yourself in a sense to research your plant needs. If you ever run into something you can't remedy with the FAQ always feel free to give me a shout. I've been fortunate to build some solid relationships on this forum and I know where to go to get answers if I don't know.

Make yourself comfortable and known. Stop in on other's grow journals and post. Learn what you can from their mistakes and achievements and learn what you like from a growing standpoint. For example, I only grow with soil and pure organics, I don't think there is a replacement for nature. You're doing excellent though Derby, I've seen very, very bad newbie mistakes and so far you're growing aces mate. Keep up the good work with your grow, I'm always around if need be. Happy growing

Hey Derby, there's a couple things you can do to get that pH down to an acceptable level. If you can find Dolomite Lime at a garden store, it acts as a pH buffer and can naturally lower your pH. Also, if you take the water you will feed with before you need it and let it sit for three days before use your pH should be around 6.0, mine is anyways in my area. My last recommendation my friend would be to get to a Walmart or hydro storeand pick-up a fish aquarium test kit that measures 4.5 - 9.5 and some pH down. It's very easy to use and sooo effective, the results will be undeniable.

At a certain pH the plants aren't able to uptake nutrients because of basic (closer to 7.0) acidity levels. Having your pH at a lower level will allow your plants to take in the good they need. Hey there Derby, sorry it took me a while to get back to you. Anyways, your set-up sounds really nice, your temperature and lighting sounds good. Be careful with the MG nutrients, they tend to run high pH wise and are pretty concentrated. Your perlite and bat guano are great additives, really solid. Try to keep your pH around 5.6 - 5.8. I would suggest doing a 2 - 3 week veg with the 20/4 cycle and then start your preflower on 18/6 for two weeks. 8 More weeks of 12/12 after that and you should have solid resin production and that G13 will, or should, be done.

As far as LSTing (Low Stress Training), it basically keep the canopy on your plants even by allowing your side branching to catch up to the large cola(s). There is also a method of training called Super Cropping where you break your plants main stem below the third highes node set or so. You don't completely break the branch off, but it hangs down and is still connected. What happens is the plant sends all of it's energy into repairing the broken stem, and as a result the stem will form far more stable and the cola will regrow towards the light. Also, the breakage will simulate growth in the lower nodes and will often increase bud sights by as much as 5-7. It's risky, and a little scary< but super cropping is very effective and produces proven yield from many growers.
