  • Also, I heard throwing the plants after ripening with the red light and putting them for 2 more weeks back into veg blue light helps the buds expand and become fluffier and less dense, with no increase in potency. Would you recommend this? Is it based on preference?
Dr.who I need assistance as well. Does curing process amber the tric's more? I don't want above any amber just 5-10% max so I was debating on harvesting early so that I can cure my way to that sweet spot. I plan on doing a whole plant curing process to be slow and not cutting the branches off for curing. I was thinking 30 days before jarring it for breathing.
    Dr. Who,

I am in need of your assistance again regarding mites, either spider or broad.

Do you have a recommended solution? Currently in week 3 of flower, growing in DWC.

    Best,
    Mike

After defoliation today, I am going to try a 1.7% Pyrethrin spray, again with that in 3 days, and on the 9th day I will bomb the room with a Pyrethrin bomb. Then once a week sprays w/ pyrethrin, rotating in Nukem every other week until week 6 or 7. I'll update you guys on progress. This should be a solid solution though as I've caught the bugs early on. Little fuckin' cock suckers.

Just ordered a bottle of avid. Been battling these unholy cocksucker russet mites for 5 months now. Organic products are dog shit for russet mites. I've got the forbid on hand already which works great but it has to be rotated with another product so they don't build resistance. And brother lemme tell ya - rotating forbid with organic products don't work. Thanks homie. You probably just saved my entire garden!

yo, i used a 2% pyrethrin spray, PyGanic, and it did the job. sprayed 4 times, going to bomb this last time to cover it up. They all died. Room is looking mega full right now.

    We love you Dr. Who!
Hey Doc :-) I've been finding the info you share very helpful! Also thank you greatly for your Terp recipes, saved me a small fortune. DO you have some books that you could recommend that are relevant today in growing cannabis? I'm interested in all aspects and keen for a deeper knowledge if you have some recommendations.

    Cheers,

    Tommy
Hey bro, I've seen you in a few threads and I wanted to ask you about AVID/Forbid. How long do you have to wait between sprays/dips? Also have you used WP Sulfur with any success? Thanks!

If I used forbid on indoor in veg, would bugs live in the room and come back when in flower?

You should be sanitizing any grow space after any type of treatment for any problem....

They could, if they were to live long enough. They need a food source. I mean eggs can hatch and carry over. Re infect the plants that way too.

I was going to remove the plants outside to spray. The eggs will die from forbid for a while. Ok thanks for the info! First ever inside grow.
I could spray the room with alcohol or bug bomb.
The guy from Ontario is right - Dawn blue is fine.

A note to your adopted plant. They feed it too much N. It shows it had an issue in bloom with lighting times and tried to reveg a bit. These are no biggie, just run her out and you'll be happy with the result...

What lighting times would you recommend? Def in flowering state , prob like no more then a foot tall. Stem is very much above soil.

I never use 12/12. I prefer either 11.5/12.5 or 11/13 on&off. This makes for a more "stable" bloom.
12/12 is simply an industrial standard.

A ten gallon pot for a foot tall plant is over-kill... a 3 for this one- will be fine.

As an off gridder with a very small tent and for power conservation sake I have been doing 14/10 and then changing to 12/12. I am interested in the differnt hours you mentioned. What hours do you like best? I just turned the lights down a few days ago. I also have a male and will make some seeded. I like what you said on another thread about seeded being just right fine. I too remember when all bud had seeds.

Dawn dishsoap the blue stuff is what I use, no antibacterial. Diamataceous earth with dishsoap works but you have to rinse with fresh water to get rid of sand buildup, like baking soda is same. You want to raise and lower ph to shock pm. Lactic acid good too with dish soap.

I just got some Diamataceous earth actually because when I got the plant, it had a gnat or 2 and I got it and some yellow sticky things and i prob didnt need the yellow thing but got em regardless, i also just bought off amazon, potassium bicarbonate. Elaborate more on sand buildup?
    Southernontariogrower
    Southernontariogrower
diamataceous earth can be sprayed on but will leave a residue, its gritty. So fresh water to rinse them after they dry from spraying, not sure if necessary but I rinse after day or so, give a few days and spray de again, rinse and repeat. Type of deal. Hope this helps.
    Hi Dr. Who,

Could I bother with a compost tea question? My area sees minimal rain and I don’t have reliable access to creek or pond water year round. The only water in my area that runs consistently is a local hot spring I frequent to soak. I don’t have a current water analysis from there yet, but was wondering if you thought this might be a decent source of fresh water for tea brewing? Thanks for your help!

Could be. I would definitely get it tested !!
I envision real possible mineral issues with that!

You can get a mineral additive from your local beer and wine making shop. It works pretty good.
So does trying a water soluble Gypsum at small rates per gallon.
Spring water bottled would be next and nothing else after those.

Thank you. Will have tested in the next couple weeks for use during summer. Funny you mention homebrew store. I used to own a brewery. Hope you’re working with some of my Michigan brewing friends :)

Do you have an opinion about the insecticide Mallet?
    Dr. Who
    Dr. Who
I run mostly organic super soil's. I do run some synthetic runs for the "Halibut".
Mallet and any other Neonicotinoid? I don't keep it around or use it. Even in synthetic use. I'll do it the hard way first.
I do have FORBID 4F around. Last ditch, nuclear option for mites. I also keep Avid around. Once in a great while you need to alternate the use of those 2 for Russet mites.
Good morning Dr. 72 year old Navy Vet here. in the midst of controlling root aphids. Read your post about 4-part system for eradication. Currently using Botanigard 22WP. I completed a drench yesterday. Assuming I can feed as normal during this time. Correct? Thanks for your time and expertise. Been growing in promix since 2004 but first crop in rockwool. Reside in Colorado.

Try topdressing with diamataceous earth, then two inches of sand or hydracorn, their maggots can't cope with sand for some reason, the hydracorn works also.
Dr. Who - i have a question about silica and your terpinator recipe. I have 2 systems going, one with jacks, one with botanicare pure blend line. Both ebb and flow. I add silica blast to the resevoir in small amounts first before adding nutes throughout their entire life cycle.
You said to not mix with silica. Just curious if that meant to not use silica at all? Or just not in the terinator mix? Ty

I did some fine work with flood and drain in the day.
Had a 2x2 that I built a frame for and did all my dial in's in it. Then move strains dialed into the main runs.
Also did my largest GPW SOG yield in it..
Found that the king of yields is SOG
Now if we could only get rid of these damn Plant # limits, I would go back to it...

That's the one nice thing about my state is no plant limits. I'm growing 162 plants on a 4x8. Running just under 2k per month. But no other way I could yield 35lb per month in a 600 sq ft room lol. Now just trying to get away from bottled nutes.

I would use 1.5 tsp of the Merit in 50 gal.

    As for the BotaniGuard
Hmm, I like the powder version (WP)
I might be inclined to use 1 to 2 tsp and go to the Accephate (Orthene) after 7 days.

Updating you on this post @Dr. Who,

Treatment worked perfect. All aphids died.

Thank you again for the help. It saved my garden.
Hi. I was just wondering about using your DIY "sweet raw" and your diy terpinator together? I grow in soil and use green planet medi one as a base and ewc tea every so often..
    Dr. Who
    Dr. Who
I use them together to increase terp profiles. Each one has influence terp spectrum. Combining the 2? Help keep the original taste profile but a bit more intense.
They also increase some trich production, therefor THC by volume also....Not stronger but, more available at the same potency = volume.
    Yukondanmac
    Yukondanmac
Do you actually mix them together then feed? Say 10ml of each per gallon of water. Or use one at 20ml per gallon one watering and then the other at the same rate next watering.
Can you clip the top bud without injuring the plant? Will it still keep producing?

can I flower my blueberry with four T8 led’s ?
    Dr. Who
    Dr. Who
Why? If the rest of the plant is still blooming,,,yes it will continue to grow but, again,,why?

Jizzle; I would use more intense light sources! You want everything you can give it in bloom.
Hi, I saw your thread about homemade Terpinator and you mention your sweet raw formula, I've looked but can't find it can you point me to it and the feeding instruction?

    Thanks

Would it make sense to ph the solution down to 6 when adding to a soil grow because the potassium would raise ph?
