These started life in CowPots under a California Lightworks light and a couple square LED panels. I nurtured them in this manner for around a week and a half, and saturated the CowPots every few days. Once ready to transplant, I used two empty CowPots to create a void in the FF Happy Frog soil, then enlarged it and placed the plant with the CowPot in the hole. I cut down each of the 4 corners from top to bottom and splayed out the sides to the edges of the void, then backfilled around the rootball with Coast of Maine Seedling Starter Soil.
The first year I used CowPots, I did not cut the sides and make a void larger than the pot. There was decent root penetration thru the container, but I like to give the roots a path of least resistance. Since they are made from cow manure, the CowPots decompose over time and add nutrients to the soil.
