I am using Aurora 707 soil. In my 3rd week of growth. They say thye soil has nutrients for 4 weeks.
How often do most people feed Photoperiod plants. I have been on a autoflower kick for past 2 years.
But the summer has lasted longer and I needed to wait for cooler weather anfd will only grow one crop this year.
SO I wanted photoperiod.
And I am just asking a generaslized question. I realize things change as you go.
Thank You,
JacK

For Chemical fertilizer-I feed smaller than recommended max dose, every watering. I start at 10% strength, from Seedling stage, and SLOWLY work the feed higher, and I try to use the Least amount of fertilizer possible, that will keep them happy, and healthy.
Also consider I use Promix BX, which has no fertilizer in it.

For Organic, and keep it extremely simple- Id use Gaia Green, 4-4-4 and some Azomite. I MIGHT add some Gaia Green 2-8-4 - 1/4th of the way through flowering, ( 60 Day Strain would get dose at day 15. ) and would still use the 4-4-4 on the scheduled 1 month intervals.

I use Jack's 3-2-1 system and I feed their recommended doses every time I water in soil less mix such as FFOF and the like. After a month, most soil less mixes are exhausted. That's great to get through the seedling stage as well as the first couple weeks of veg. But, after that, it becomes a completely inert substrate. It's essentially a drain-to-waste hydro system.....It just looks more like dirt than some of the other hydroponic substrate options like rock wool or hydroton. But, yeah, feed full strength every time. I use a LOT of light, a lot of fertilizer and I end up working around the plants a lot...so they get a decent dose of my exhaled CO2.

Ok you have an awesome organic grow and guys are telling you to add chemicals. Now you are drain to waste and need to check ph on the way out. The jacks 321 may salt lock. Just hold on.

Look up top dressing for organics. This replenishes your ferts with natural products including earth worm castings and bat poop. Look for organics that includes the different parts needed to convert the natural ingredients to nutrition just like your 707 soil did. I am a bag reader and after searching I found a fox farms soil recharge that foot the bill

I also add additional EWC and vermiculite for water retention. Simply scrape off inches of your soil not close to the plant and place the mixture on the top. As you water it pulls the nutrients down into your media but it keeps your grow organic.
Now when you get to flower you will need a compost tea with different nutrients. You will still need to top dress unless your using a very complete tea. After much research I found that most organic teas made on site ( at home ) have a smell that most find icky. I found a complete flowering setup that uses natural mint to mask the smell and as a 3 part kit it seems very complete although kind of expensive.

They make kits for both veg and bloom but I am used to using soil conditioners from gardening.

Good luck with your grow

GAIA GREEN SCHEDULE

Germinating and Veg:

  • Mix your starting soil with Gaia Green All-Purpose Fertilizer 4-4-4 (or similar) according to the package directions.
  • Use this in your red solo cups and in your one-gallon pots.
  • After three weeks in one-gallon pots, top-dress with a tablespoon of 4-4-4. At this point the plants are around 5-6 weeks old.
  • A week later, up-pot to your desired pot size with soil that has been amended with 4-4-4.
Flower:
  • A week after transplanting to larger pots, top-dress 1 TBSP per gallon of soil. At this point in time, use half 4-4-4 and half 2-8-4 Power Bloom.
  • Every three weeks, top-dress at 1 TBSP per gallon of 2-8-4 Power Bloom only.

Consider dr earth dry ferts. Home grown for veg then flower girl mid flower onward. Or toss in a bag of premium gold for transition. Four tbsp top dress every 2 weeks for a 5 gallon container. I've found ordering from walmart about the cheapest. Maybe do 4 lb bags to see if you like. 12 lb bags are the best bang for the buck though.
