I second that thought. When using older Dutch pots I removed the drip ring altogether and hand-fed until the roots hit the reservoir. The roots only take a few days or a week to hit the water.

We had a similar issue and realized after we replaced it that we had a clogged drainage tube. Luckily we were able to return the new unit.
