I'm also doing my first grow so not speaking from experience here, but I've read not to top outdoor plants as that can create a weak point where it may split the plant down the stem once heavy with buds.

YES! Thanks for this, it was driving me mad not knowing exactly, but now that you mention and I compare the marks that has to be it! At least now I know what I'm dealing with. I feel a little silly now not proactively spraying the plants but learning lots.

I will give this a try as soon as my neem oil arrives, thanks!
