    How much UVB to give.

You are correct, Botrytis often starts in the middle of the flower, and UV would probably not be an effective treatment. For PM it works very well. PM conidia germinate on leaf surfaces before forming a haustoria which penetrates the plant. UV CleanLight treatments work both preventatively...

    The Myth About Light Leaks

I agree with you 100% I ran commercial light deps for many seasons with holes in my tarps, and lots of light leaks. Never a nanner when I was using stable clones. Bruce Bugbee recently ran some experimental trials (not sure if he has published yet) and determined that cannabis plants cannot...

Oscillating fands that dont break within a year

Oscillating fans have no place in a well designed grow room. These fans create turbulence and pockets of dead air. Fixed fans can be oriented to create laminar airflow through establishment of Horizontal Air Flow Cells. Regardless of how big or small your grow might be, taking the time to...

    The age of cloning

Interesting conversation around maintenance of genetics through cloning. I have had some cuts that I have run for many years with no degradation. Good culture, and always taking cuts from healthy moms are key. "Genetic Drift" doesn't mean what people think it means, and is not relevant to...

Fungus gnats problems - any solutions?

Hey Vincenzio, I can appreciate your frustration. You are right, there is not an immediate threat to your crop from fungus gnats, and it is tempting to ignore them. I always see a big flush of FG about 10 days after I transplant if I do not treat proactively with hypoapsis and nemesis. It...

Fungus gnats problems - any solutions?

Thanks! I should do some research. In my area, we can only use products that have been registered for use on cannabis by our federal regulators. It is a short list! I am happy to learn about other options. Thanks!

Fungus gnats problems - any solutions?

This commercial IPM article is a little long, but there is some good info here on managing Fungus Gnats with beneficial bugs. 8 Core Components of a Cannabis IPM Program — Elevated Botanist

Fungus gnats problems - any solutions?

Hi, Fungus Gnats are a pain in the ass, and also a vector for diseases like PM, and viruses and viroids, and they eat plant roots. Like some others mentioned, hypoaspis mites (Stratiolaelaps scimitis) are soil dwelling predators that will control fungus gnats at their larval stage. They also...

    How much UVB to give.

I agree, the PPFD would indicate a DLI or about 17, less than half of the low end of a good light quantity range. Under such conditions, most cultivars would express sub-optimal cannabinoid synthesis.

    How much UVB to give.

Yes I read the study. Sorry to repost the same link as previously. I have used UVC to treat PM disease in commercial crops, but this would likely fall below the peak action spectrum for uvr8 signaling. Obviously UV is not included in PAR.

Recent research suggests that there is not a beneficial role for UV irradiation for cannabinoid synthesis. https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpls.2021.725078/full

Companion Growing For Organic Pest Control.. Any Thoughts?

Hi, I companion plant marigold with cannabis for pest management, succession crop with garlic for sulphur fixation, and cover crop with legumes for nitrogen fixation. Banker plants can also work well to help establish indigenous bio predators. An ecological approach is the most effective way...
