    Nute frequency in soil grows

Thanks for all the advice! I've been watering daily for a couple reasons: - I don't mind wasting a bit of water - I've read its very hard to over water and from my own "normal" gardening experience - the more water, the better I hadn't been doing little sips, rather giving each between...

    Nute frequency in soil grows

Hello, First soil grow after a few hydro grows. Using this soil in 3 gal pots - http://www.ebstone.org/13_ednas.php, chem-dawg indica strain. Watering daily. I have no idea how often to add nutes to the water. I know it varies, have to read your plants, etc. but looking for some general...

White "dust" on leaves - HELP

I've got some white dust like substance on the fan leaves of several flowering plants. I can't imagine these are trichromes, so assuming it's a problem? Pics attached - help is very much appreciated! Environmental conditions - usually between 70 and 80 deg, low RH (55% down to 20%).

Questions on low maintenance soil growing

I'm considering a switch from a DWC hydro setup to a particular kind of soil growing I read about and want feedback on. First, the rationale for the switch... Trying to solve 2 problems: 1) Air pumps causing too much noise, 2) Too much maintenance changing water in the DWC buckets. I...

    Adding sugar during flowering?

Thanks UB. Question and a comment: - Will the sugar hurt the plant? Should I change the water (DWC hydro setup) immediately? - Agree 100% on your thought when reading forums... I've been advised to (by non stoners ;-) and used sugar as plant food for cut roses when the store doesn't give...

    Adding sugar during flowering?

Yep, plain old white granulated sugar. What kind are you supposed to use? Thankfully so far the other plants seem fine. I'm guessing that it was just too much nutes for the plant pictured (which was the smallest).

    Adding sugar during flowering?

Color me stubborn (or loyal to Cervantes' book) but I ended up adding 1 TBS of sugar per gallon to my hydro mix on my last nute change (which also included 2 TBS per gallon - full dose) of Pure Blend Pro Bloom. The plants are starting their 3rd week of flowering. Here's the problem: - The...

    Adding sugar during flowering?

Thanks for the info. Has one had it work to increase the size of the harvest - with either sugar or molasses?

Sound insulation / reducing the sound of air pumps

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm using basic 3w aquarium air pumps. I hope I don't have to go to the lengths that stelthy did, but thanks for the info in case I do! I bought some 1/2" thick interlocking foam floor tiles. Will report back how they work.

Sound insulation / reducing the sound of air pumps

I've got 6 DWC buckets, each with a 4" air stone and air pump. My space is my attic, and the floors are bare plywood (presumably with no insuation underneath). It is quite noisy (vibrating pump sounds) in the room below the grow space. I hung the air pumps from the ceiling so they are not...

    PPM Range

Hi, I'm a newbie and have a question on PPM. I'm growing with DWC buckets using unfiltered, un-RO'ed tap water. I do not let it sit to let the chlorine evaporate. My PPM of just the water is 522-529. Is this too high? I've not measured the PPM of the water/nute mix which I assume is the...

    Adding sugar during flowering?

Cervantes' Growing Bible indicates that adding sugar during the last 6 weeks of flowering can increase yield up to 20%. But he doesn't say how much to use. Anyone have advice on this? I'm using a DWC hyrdo setup with 4 gallons of water/nute mix in a 5 gallon bucket.

Can you make extracts or oils from leaves cut during veg?

Stupid question from a newbie. I think the answer is no, but better safe than sorry... Can I make hash oil or an extract from leaves I pruned during the vegetative phase of growth? If not, is there any reason to save them from the garbage can? Thanks! Bill
