Thanks for the heads up! I've since got a spiral cfl @ 2700k/1200lms/30w and the heat difference is loads cooler with the cfl and actually seems brighter. From what I've seen and read these CFL's seem to be OK around 1" away from seedlings in fiber/plastic pots. Just need to grab another at...

I had a small vivarium with a broad spectrum sun glo basking lamp from exo Terra which helped grow my plants for my beardie dragon and since the viv is cracked I cannot use it and thought an airing cupboard would be OK for seedlings and germination if I put my peat/plastic pots on ceramic tiles...
