no you dont need to water the plants like you would in soil thats one of the main advantage of even purchasing a hydroponic system... and yes it works best if you change your water every week and your nutrients as well. in the hydroponic system they water them selves constantly...

yeah i guess if its only going to be for a couple days, i would put the germinated seeds into the rockwool first though and bury it in with the soil then when its time to change to DWC dig up the rockwool cube and the root maybe by then wont even be out of the cube yet or maybe just a little out...

i just dont get how your going to get them into the rockwool once you plant them into the soil. when you put the plants into soil for now how do you expect to get it into the rockwool cubes? i mean i guess you might be able to??? its just that its going to start building up a whole root...
