Interesting, I was always told even if the nucleus pulposus retracted the tear where it came out could not seal itself closed.

But the interior rupture can’t be repaired it has to be removed. Think of it as a jelly doughnut. Once the jelly is squeezed out it can be put back in.

The only thing that will fix a herniation is surgery, i recommend it too. I had L5 S1 herniation and after 8 months of pain I did the surgery, 100% worth it. The longer you wait the more damage you can do to the nerves its touching too.
