Seriously considering moving my family to Colorado-

I'm fed up with Arizona's Medical Marijuana rules that won't let me grow.

I see Pueblo listed as a cheap place to live...
Weather doesn't look overly severe either-

Might have to plan a trip up there and see what it's like.

Do dispensaries take out of state cards?

Nope they don't...

Hope you bring an AWD Subaru with you (or any true AWD car)... I see countless of 4x4s and 2wd vehicles stuck everywhere in our winters... but the true AWD vehicles with some Snow/Winter Tires fly past everyone and safely makes it to their final destination

Ha!!!! I don't need AWD. Course I drive a 3/4t 4x4 diesel GMC (yeah my carbon footprint ain't so hot) .... it's so heavy I think it would get traction with bald tires :-)

A subu-what???

I was planning on driving my old Ford F-150 2 wheel drive.

I learned to drive a muscle car on snow and ice when I was 16, so not overly concerned about that.

Sucks I can't buy right away from a dispensary though.

How long is the wait to get a card?
What's the cost?
Are they strict at all?

Seems like a silly question, since recreational Cannabis passed in Colorado...

Move here to Detroit, cheap housing and easy to get card and dispensary on every corner, and u can grow 12 plants or more.

I worked for a uaw contractor in Detroit back in the '90s.

No offense, but the place seemed a little sketchy, when times were good. Wouldn't care to visit again, especially these days...

The wait to get a card is about 35 days. However, as a first time applicant, you can use a copy of your application along with the certified mail return receipt immediately after getting the approval of a doc. The license cost $35, a doc visit about $80 or so. Here's the thing, I think you also have to provide proof of address in CO if using an out of state drivers license.

DO IT!!!! But not to Pueblo, unless you like meth too.

And yea, have to have proof of residency, 2 forms if not using state issued ID. But you can get your temp drivers lic the same day you go to the dmv, that is what I used.

What a deal-
I had to pay $150 for the doc and $150 to the state here in AZ...

Can't grow, but get to buy dispensary herb, the best is what I'd call high quality mids for $400 an oz.

One tip. Pueblo county, not Pueblo city. You can thank me later.
Just looking at the street map, I was gonna guess better neighborhoods could be found North of the 50, and maybe in pueblo west...

I'd like to find a nice low rent area, that isn't too ghetto-

Maybe a Colorado Springs suburb would be better?

I'm fairly new to Co, so I can't really say. When looking here we talked to several different people from Co that all said Pueblo was notorious for crime and meth. And it has a bad crime rating, etc.

I'm renting a house in Brighton, it's north of Denver, pretty nice although when we look for a house we prob wont chose here exactly but somewhere in the Denver/Boulder area, likely out a lil ways to keep the price down.

It's pretty much like anywhere really, closer to the city there are more bad areas and the good ones are more expensive.

Denver / Boulder sucks ass on traffic and they tax you hard.

Stay away from Southside for sure, lots of gang activity. Pueblo West (west of walmart is best). Keep a low profile and dont get robbed. Ask for Jacob at grow store, hes cool.

What do the rest of the family think to this idea?

Well, my wife is from the Philippines, so she has no clue what she's in for weather wise-

She's also a nurse.

I glanced at the healthcare job section, Pueblo craigslist, and found her an interesting job offer with one call, making more than she's making now. So she's excited about that.

I was also thinking about Canon/Florence area. I saw some really cheap places that looked decent. Most have outbuildings with electrical power also.

But when I checked the racial makeup of the area, I noticed the population is around 96% white, which is a little odd these days.

There are a lot of white folks in CO... but I haven't seen too much bigotry..... and I grew up in S Georgia, so I know what it looks like

Pueblo can be rough. Pueblo West is the best option, but rent won't be exactly cheap, though it will be much cheaper than Denver boulder.
