Would it work? Any ideas?
I will give you a quick lesson on blacklights. Blacklights are not good for growing by itself, but they do accentuate the other lights and the potency of the plant. Blacklights should be used in cogruance with other "grow lights".
Blacklights should be used in the flowering stage, as they emit the UVA and UVB wavelength, which is what the natural sun outdoors gives off. Don't we want our growroom to be as close to the normal sun as possible..? Use caution though, UV light can damage the eyes and skin, especially if you have a powerful UV light, with prolonged exposure. I suggest using sunglasses when under these types of lights.
Blacklights increase the potency of the plant, by forcing increased trichome production(which in turn makes more THC, CBD, and CBC's in the plant). This is good for low trichome strains such as Durban Poison, or Afghani(what i'm currently growing right now). Actually any strain at all..
The way it forces more trichomes to appear, is in response to this harmful UV light emited from the blacklight. We get dark when were in the sun(UV light causes us to tan, a way to block out this powerful UV light) but plants protect itself by making trichomes to block out this light.
I have just recently installed one in my growroom (40W fluorescent blacklight), and I am waiting to see (i'm in the last 1-2 weeks of flowering) how the trichome production will be affected.
Well I hope this enlightens you to as how beneficial blacklights can be to any grower, commercial or just even personal use.
I recommmend spending the few extra bucks to try this out, and see how the potency of your finished product will be affected.
Take care all, and keep smoking.
