Ok..so Im in the market for a 150W HPS lamp...to flower some small clones or w/e..I currently have two options that Ive been looking at!!One is cheap, only 55$(from Econolight.com)..but the other is from an actual hydroponic website,HTG Supply...so which one should I go with?Compare the options..and tell me which one looks better. They give out the same lumens, but is the HTG one better for growing plants?!!You tell me what to buy!!!Thanks!!:hump:

If the normal cheap one works get it. I told my buddy that he hould have to spend 60 bux on a hps buld then he found on that was only like 15 bux at a light store and it worked fine.

Came in like two boxes, one inside the other, and there was very little assembly required. Then you plug it in a regular outlet. It is about ten degrees cooler than all the cfls I was using. I keep it about 7 inches or so above my tallest. The ballast can get warm, so don't grab it if its been on like 12 hours...I use an oscillating fan to keep it cool. Comes with directions and a free lighter!:mrgreen::mrgreen:
Can you tell me evevything you know about this light??How did it come packaged, what did it include? Is it good quality?!How hot does it get? Thanks

i bought a 250 hps off of them and cant sya enough good things abou it. Produces good bud and runs pretty cool compared to the 400 mh i have been using. i paid $125 from htg and think thats a great deal. I bought some 100 watt hps on clearance at home depot for less than $20 and they seem to be working prettygood. I only been using these for a few months and never for a full crop cycle.

Good to hear those HTG lights are good quality..so you guys think I should just buy the HTG one?? StonerMCfried:
1.How many plants you think could fit under it?
2.Can I cool it with two fans pointing at the bulb?

CaptPotHead:

1.Please answer all above questions lol...

buy a kit and wire it up yourself.. my 400 watt was only like 55 bucks, so a 150 kit should be like 15$ or something ridiculous.

I have three under it...its the pots that make it hard. I just have an oscillating fan going back and forth across the grow area, pointed slightly upward. Really isnt that hot. I turn mine on at night though because it gets hot in the room during the day because of location.

Fuk it..Ima go with the HTG one...seems better in terms of reliability/quality...good yields and good quality lighting seem to go hand in hand with this hobby...

you are better off i think. I ilke the htg light because it has a glass lens over the bulb which helps keep the heat down a bit and just seems a lot safer than having an exposed bulb. For my HTG 250 i run between 6 and 10 plants but i'm using the sog method.

Hold on..I dont think were talkin' about the same light...cus the HTG 150W Im talking about comes with an open air reflector, meaing theres no lens shieling the bulb...either way, what do you usaully yield with a 250HPS SOG?I plan on growing 10-12 small plants under a single 150W HPS...sounds good?

O i just noticed ur thing said cheapest, its not the cheapest, but i think its better than getting the cheapest. it came in a plain brown box, it did say it was from htg supply, but it was very discreet. the light was in a white box that was inside the brown box, packaged very nicely. I have 4 plants under it now, in a pretty shitty set up, rite now its in a book case thats turned on its side. I'v only dealt with cfl's before this, so heat was something new to me, but it's easily controlled with an exhaust fan. It's about 10lbs because it has the ballast attached, so you gotta make sure whatever ur hangin from can handle it, but if its a decent set up you should be alright. I recieved it within a week of ordering, which is really unheard of where I am. I have nothing but good things to say about HTG Supply. and actually, thats what the majority of people will tell you

edit* I have four plants under it because thats all the space i have in the bookcase. I plan on moving it to a closet, where I plan to start a perpetual grow w/more plants. ppl will tell you not to do this because you wont get optimum results, but I'm happy w/the results Iv gotten, so Im gonna get on the perpetual :D
