question: what kinda flora tubes did you use starting out? 6500K? how many lumens do those put out and how many watts do each use? Thanks!

I used 32 23watt CFLs for 10 plants and the elctricity ran up way too fast that I decided to put it outside because i live in a ultility strict apt.

All 10 tubes are 40watts each and between 3000 and 4000 lumens. Started with 2 4100k and 2 that just say "cool" idk the K. Then added 2 5000k and 4 more that just say "cool" One of the 4 ft fixtures I found next to a dumpster. I figured maybe just the ballast was bad so i grabbed it to check the bulbs and it turns out the whole thing worked fine. Score!
The tubes were fine for about 3-4 weeks then I needed to start adding CFL's on the sides. I had two rows of 5 plants with 1 4ft fixture on top of each row. 1 fixture on each side and one in the middle above the plants. Then i added a row of CFL's (like 6 of 'em) under the middle fixture between the two rows.
Its has worked really good but....5 and 7 got too tall and i had to get them their own lights. 5 got the ax (male) and seven now has 10 Cfl's 2 short tubes and 1 funky shaped tube cfl.
And yeah the upstairs smells really good! I don't smell it at all downstairs. I'm going to rig a charcoal filter on the exhaust because I know that the smell is going to get more potent as flowering continues.

Just a little update while I'm here... I have found hairs growing on top of #1 finally. BUT.....not so fast....It MIGHT be a hermie still. There's hairs on top but the rest of the preflowers which are big enough to have hairs coming out are looking like they might just turn into balls Still can't tell on #4.
So...3,6,7,9,&10 girls for sure
2,5 already got the axe.
8 &4 cant tell yet.
And #1....hermie? idk yet stay tuned.... Pics coming on sunday!

Hi, Your plants look good. How hot dose you closet get? I,m thinking that I going to build me a grow box and use cfl lighting for my automatic AK47.

Thanks POW. It gets too hot! Yesterday was the first hot day we've had this summer. The lights come on at 5:30 am, and I dont wake up to open the closet door untill about 7. Yesterday morning when I opened the door it was 101 in there!! the plants seemed fine except for #6 was droppying and did not look happy at all. Looks ok today though. Whew...The a/c is on now and its 95 outside and 80 in the closet. I need a better exhaust fan though. The CFL's put out more heat than you might think. (its the ballasts not the bulbs)

Day 50, day 10 of 12/12-
Oh boy they are looking good!! #4 has finally showed its sex. Its a girl!! But it does NOT look good for #8 The preflowers on 8...idk, but no hairs I can't get a good close-up of it (my gf is the master at that) But it looks like the preflowers are going to turn into branches?? NOt hairs or balls? Weird??
#1 definately has hairs and in multiple locations BUT something weird about it too. It, like #8 has preflowers that seem big enough to have spit out a hair or two, but they havn't?? Maybe these are hermies?? IDK I'm watching these two very closely...1 & 8 are awesome little bushes man what a bummer....
So... for those keeping score- 2 & 5 male (chopped); 3,4,6,7,9 &10 are female and 1 & 8 are weird but 1 has hairs....stay tuned.

oops those two are the same. And oh yeah I will be adding bigger and/or more lights. I'm waiting to see exactly how many keepers I have before deciding the final setup.

nice floro set up, i have a new one in the works, kinda similar to yours. ill be a few weeks before i finish it and start a new crop. your plants look good to me. they are maybe 3 weeks flowering, no? hope all stays good.

Why thank you. Day 50 day 10 of flower.
#7 showed hairs after the 1st 12 hour night! #4 just showed yesterday.
So 7 is ahead of the others.

Day 52, day 13 of flower
No major changes on 1 or 8, still not sure. There's more hairs on top and on branch tops too, but on the main stalk....idk.
3,4,6,7,9,& 10 all girls all day
2, & 5 are still dead lol
The clone I took from 2 is also dead. (there goes the proof I had that it was a male lmfao). It seems that I did it wrong. I put it in a clear glass of water with a couple drops of superthrive. And I guess your not supposed to let the stem see light. And also your not supposed to give the top of the plant direct light either. So I pretty much roasted that clone in the closet right by a bright light.
So......I took a clone from #9. Its got lots of branches to spare. I took a long lower one that wasn't getting much light anyway. It was one of the few that did NOT have any hairs growing on it yet. I figured it wouldn't mind going back into veg 18/6.
Ive got it gently suspended in a dark cup of water w/superthrive. Its in the window getting outdoor none direct daylight. After the sun goes down it gets a little more ambient room light until bedtime, so its getting prolly 18 hrs now of weak light. Today over 24hrs since I cut it off it looks as good as it did ON the plant. It didn't droop over at all and the leaves are up searching for light. This one might make it.
I'm making a box home for her and hopefully she will mother my next crop. Listen to me lol "next crop"

#8 sadly...has been killed. He was about 95% male. HE did have some hairs though, damn hermie.
#1 is also a hermie. But #1 is like 95 % female and looks really nice but it does have a few balls here and there. I've been picking them off the past couple days. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
#6 is a bitch! Always droopy and complaining about something now I dont Know wtf is the matter. Same conditions as the others but its just not happy. All droopy. Still pushing out hairs though...
#7 is a little droopy today too, but Not nearly as bad as 6. 7 has got buds!

The clone I took from 9 is doing very well. No signs of roots yet but it looks good. I've been giving it a daily light misting of water. And I've built it a new home.

sorry to hear about the hermies=[ hate them. sometimes i like em cuz you could take the seed from that an keep growing it. eachtime you grow it the genetics get better and better and stronger.=] love it tho. and cant wait to see some new pics. alil droopy cuz not enough water or to much=[?? im not sure homie.
