Already noticed the flap issue when my fan was blowing in the back and directly out the front flap HAHAHA so I opened 2 ports for air to flow out and duct tapped EVERY flap not in use :) I KNOW I will need to tape them better by the time flowering comes. HOWEVER I have a LIGHT LOCKED room right now. Black plastic covering the blinds on every window. cardboard and plastic everywhere to seal out light while still using the window for AC at the moment. and soon to add an exhaust vent(accordion dryer vent for windows.) and again I will seal it all up once i'm done installing. so with the door closed it gets DARK in there. I'm in the process of setting up another closet for CFL and possibly an MH if I get a new ballast and reflector before I start flowering. But the new closet is going to be for the clones I save for future cloning stock. I've decided I will NEVER have the patients to get a LEGIT perpetual crop started. So just as easily I've decided to grow out everything. taking more BD's as I go and once the rest are ready for cuts to be taken i'll take a half dozen or so from each, root them. and Flip the lights to 12/12 in the tent.. I figured by the time they(tent plants) are done flowering the small clones will be large enough to take cuts from and throw THEM into flowering. That way I can continuously flower and have a decent amount to smoke while PROPERLY curing the rest for at LEAST a month. instead of the 2 weeks I normally do....... My mini fridge may need a brother.....:)
Cure at least 3 weeks, that's when mine really start to change smell and taste.

Yeah I usually START the smell and taste at about 2 weeks and then I dig in. but I only had a few ounces the last time....... fuck that small shit. I can get more in smaller pots with more plants than I did last time with 4 HUGE pots. None of my plants were properly trained. so they were in the most HACK trellis setup ever. and then removed for the last month or so... I'm just gonna fill the tent and fucking flower 30+ plants at once. I'm gonna start using my 3gal grow bags.... Got a bunch of them but haven't used em in a long time.... BAK do you happen to put your jars in the fridge during the cure? or do you leave them out in a closet or whatever??

No, just room temp in a cabinet (dark).

Yeah. I don't know why I can't get a good cure without the cold temps. it always smells worse than when it went in when I leave the jars out in the dark..... It may just be TOO hot here in my closets..... i'm gonna split the next batch between the air-conditioned room(behind the tent) and the mini fridge.

Fridge puts off heat from the back.

If it smells worse after than before you're not waiting long enough, and need to burp a little more before you close up for good..

I know that. What I did the last grow was jarred the dried buds and put them into my mini fridge. they stay cold and dark. and as long as the bud is DRIED properly it will not cause any sogginess from condensation.

I'm guessing you're drying a little too fast and too much, and not leaving enough moisture for the slow burping process.

Last message wasn't to this...... I think ONE of the issues was an early harvest. but I burped the jars every 12 hours for 2 days. then once a day for about 10 days and then left it alone in the closet for 4 weeks. and it was horrible shit.... I felt like the biggest prick because it WAS a John Sinclair VIPER. but it ended up tasting like BRICK. my LAST 4 plants all came out awesome. taste and smell were amazing. and all I did different was put the jars in the fridge. I'll just try a combo of both next time so I can see which works best for ME. I guess we all have our little "special" ways of doing certain things. lol No two growers alike.

I don't know maybe.... 7-14 days to dry. I lay the stems of buds flat in a closed cardboard box now, and open the boxes every other day to mix fresh "drier" air in.(used to hang dry but heat issues became a problem and I couldn't keep it cool enough for the slow dry.)
EVERYTHING I hung to dry tasted like grass. But the first plants I started to use the box didn't seem to change anything besides the dry time. Only the last 4 plants I grew had "that smell".

I hang dry for 3-5 days, then into the jars, but last time they dried a little fast, so after 8 hours or so in the jars, I would dump out for a few minutes, move around then put back in making sure same ones not on bottom.
2-3 days of this, then I would start the burping every 10-12 hrs for about a week if I remember right, then they stayed closed up except for the occasional sniff or swipe for another 3 weeks.

Good :??: bro.. what I do is take a large box cardboard, run sowing string side to side, then just hang my buds over the strings, close the flaps, then let dry for 6 to 7 days. Really depends on how thick the buds are. Once there somewhat dry to touch, I then go to the mason jars for the cure. Works like a charm.. ;)
Do you dry before you go into the jars?
