What's with the ridiculous yield claims on seed packaging?

Some say 350-450g per square meter lol. Is that even possible? Has anyone ever achieved the supposed maximum yield?
I'm hoping for a half decent harvest, but I can't help but feel that these claims get peoples hopes up and ultimately leave them disappointed to the point of quitting.

About like them claiming 40% THC. I have actually seen higher percentages advertised; of course it was completely bogus and the price was about $20 per seed, so only total suckers sent in money.

My seeds claim 19% THC. I'm trying not to read into that too much, after laughing at the half kilogram of weed it can produce.

The assumption is, 1m2/1000HPS/SOG.

FWIW, 1m2 = ~11ft2, so a 450g harvest is equivalent to ~1.5oz (dry) per square foot. Frankly, that's not a particularly impressive harvest; very easy to achieve under 1Ks or 600s for that matter. Essentially, a given with 1Ks.

I just harvested 439g under a 400w in a 3.2x3.2ft floor space.

Its not a rediculous claim.

It denotes what's achievable in optimum conditions.

That means great temperature control, enough light, well maintained healthy plants, elevated Co2 levels etc.

Wow, from a single plant? Do you have a grow journal?

He doesn't say single plant, square metre was the unit of measurement being discussed. :peace:

then you need to minus a few ounces in stems.

Lol.... I'm sure he didn't hang his harvest, rootball and all, upside down to dry, and then weigh it. When most people state a weight of their harvest, it is after taking the flowers off the stems, and ready to go!!!

Keep in mind that is if you fill an entire 3x3x3 spot. Basically either a LOT of training or packing in many many plants.

ive never seen anyone claim more than 25% thc myself... dunno where your getting this 40 from unless its one of your friends swearing his has 40% thc lol

if you fit 9 plants in a meter squared and pull 2 zips each that would give you around 500

ABSOLUTELY! Most peoples style of grow, stops them from maxamizing their yeild. Set up and experience levels is crucial to maxing your yeild. You have to remember....where and how they are growing...lab conditions are quite different than the average grow.

My goal is 2 grams per watt and I believe that is a realistic goal, dictated by strain of course.

I got a total dry weight of 490g's with 2 auto's in a 4ft x 2ft area under 400w system.
288g's from bubblelicous, and 202g's from AK49(could have been more, but ran into issues early in grow), Both were cut down a week earlier than I wanted but ak went 7.5 weeks flower, and bubble went 8.5 weeks flower.

It is actually based on 600watt, which is the most common grow lamp in the Netherlands for 1m2, and not necessarily a SoG but based on at least 9 plants (3x3,sort of like an effortless SoG, but apart from that I entirely agree, it's very doable.

It does also assume everything goes well, but 1gr/watt is a good target to aim for. If you see a strain that claims 600gr per m2 you should aim for 400gr with a 400 watt. (edit: actually... you should aim for quality over quantity).

So they are realistic to me, and of course on the higher end of the actual range to promote their seeds and with the pheno factor added to the mix ymmv, a lot.

You are claiming to have pulled over a pound off 2 autos with a 400 watt system? Yeah right.

That might be 281 grams if you count that heavy ass plastic container.
Check my journal dumbass. It was ZERO'd with it on.

Scales only weigh 500g total so I had to do it in 2 piles.

I also show the -180g starting point.

Why am I gonna lie???

Are people that SHIT at growing that they can't achieve 1g/w.

I mean 1g/w is common place for most seasoned growers.

Why the hostility???
