PLEASE HELP !! having problems with my young plant!!!

i started my plant on march 10th from a seed i found in a bag, everything was going fine at first, it germinated in 3 days then sprouted from the dirt a few days later. i left and was gone for 4 days and i come back and something is wrong with it. the two little round leaves that have turned completely yellow and the 2 true leaves have a dark discoloration near the end of the leaves. i had someone water it once while i was gone. PLEASE HELP!!! this is a pic the morning i left130322-154855.jpg this is after i returned home130328-203001.jpg

Miracle grow soil works just fine! What makes some growers think otherwise?? Just as long as you don't go adding a shit ton of nutes to the miracle grow soil your plants should be fine! Reason being you don't want to add nutes is because the "miracle grow soil" already has nutrients in it that will last up to 3 months. This doesn't mean your plant won't need some "light" nute feeding after I would say the 1st month and a half or so. My plants have done fine with that soil with just plain ph'd waterings, and a tad of cal-mag. I waited the said month & half then feed them with my "light" nute mixture and there fine!! I don't use that type of soil now, but it does work just fine imo..

Miracle grow soil?
First it doesn't matter what soil, I use MG with good results (seedlings too) what I see is there's not much soil in there and it's a clear cup, transplant into a 1/2gal jug of some sort with good drainage...those roots don't want light, that's why they bury themselves...good luck

miracle grow is higher in Nitrogen than most organic soils....which can cause newbs to burn their ladies...
BUT..I think RIKNSTEIN has a great point.... those roots dont want light...the transparent cups could be your problem....

i found the soil in a flower pot outside, if i transfer it to something else with better soil will it help with the discoloration on the end of the true leaves?

MG now has a chitload of bark in the organic line..messes with pH( and those tiny splinters you get). It was fine last year.

nute burn from the mg. ride it out its not too bad. i also wonder about your temps. anything above 80 F. is bad news.

well, old soil can do that too....
who knows...maybe it's super high in nitrogen because a dog frequented it as a urination spot! lol

but yeah, I would re-pot... new soil....with some peralite and vermiculite...and not in a clear container....
and keep an eye on it.... if it starts yellowing...flush the soil a bit....but I imagine a re-pot would be perfect for it.

I have a young sprout that I over fed.... she was yellow as shit last week.... after a few flushes.. color is being restored and growth is rapidly accelerating.

...and dont listen to "$waGgEr... it's not the brand of soil that's hurting you....it's that it's old soil with an unknown composition....

flushing mg soil is the worst you can do... That releases more nutes..

I would, just get some soil made for seedlings and put it in a darker pot, about a quart size to half gal size (to keep light off those roots) with drain holes in the bottom and go with it..good luck..

And I'm going to set the record straight agian about the MYTHS of Miracle Gro soil....

MG Garden Soil
N-0.15
P-0.05
K-0.10

MG Perlite
N-0.04
P-0.01
K-0.06

So, I say agian MG is a viable soil, it doesn't have the HIGH nitrogen content everyone thinks, come on people RESEARCH before you open your mouths, and it depends on the knowledge YOU have on whether they grow or not...

well, to 'set the record straight' over here...

I have a basic organic soil with 0.10 Nitrogen content...in front of me
I also have a bag of MG with 0.21 Nitrogen content....in front of me
I also have another bag of MG with .15 nitrogen...in front of me

I'm sure the higher nitrogen is just a figment of my imagination?
so take some of your own advice and RESEARCH before you 'OPEN YOUR MOUTH!"

(You can't just assume when someone says they are using MG...that it's the same MG Garden Soil with the same composition as the one you are using..they make a million different products..ALL with different makeups... MOST with higher nitrogen than the average organic soil....)

but yes, it's all in technique...MG still works...it's still viable.....but not the best for newbs...

I did research, I never said all MG brands, and I specifically said MG Garden soil. So why don't you open your mouth and exchange your feet, that ones getting pruned. AND, I'm not the one asking for help...AND, I'm a n00b...

And I don't usually go off like that, I apologize for my outburst. But I did specify MG Garden, but as you so nicely documented is the point I was making...not that much in the way of nutes when it's a .15 or .21...that's 15 or 21/100ths of a pecentage...not alot..that was my point...lol
