hi, im new here, growing in a 1.2 tent and got a 6"tt fan blowing cool air in and a 6"rvk sucking air out im using florecent lighting but i have a 600watt hps so i tried using that today and temp went from 22-23c to around 32-33c i dont know what else i can do to lower the heat? i also have a small clip on fan in there, so theres no stale air. any help would be helpful thanks :D

...can you post pictures of your setup? ...and include pics of the exhaust and intake fans. ...and if you could convert to inch's it would also be a help as i'm a lazy old American and metrics makes my head hurt so early in the day.

...btw, i assume by 1.2 tent you mean 1.2 meters so about 3ft but what about the other measurments, ...is it 1.2 x 1.2 x 1.2?

...see what i mean? ...we need more information if we are gonna be able to help you.

Is your exhaust at the top of the tent, with intake at the bottom? I don't belong to gc. so I cant see your pics.

If you cant cool it with ambient air you are stuck to adding an a/c unit of some kind. HID burn hot man, not much else too it.

this link is useless to anyone not a member at grasscity so posting a link rather than posting pics is why you've gotten no substantive help.

alright mate aha no need to get like that i didnt know you had to be a member so ill post the pics on here
...yeah man, you took me wrong, all i was doing was explaining why you weren't getting any help, ...all we have is the typed word so i take pains to be clear.

...anyway, if that is how you have your exhaust set up with both fans sitting on the floor and with all that ducting then that's probably your problem. ...is that white fan a Solar & Pilau? ...that's your intake fan, right?

...i have never used an intake fan because in my early research i recall seeing that both intake and exhaust fans need to be balanced correctly or they work against each other so that may be a contributing factor in your temperature issue.

...and why don't you have the exhaust fan hanging inside the tent connected as directly as possible to your scrubber, the longer ducting run, with bends, greatly reduces the efficiency of the fan, ...it will also significantly reduce the lifespan of the fan i'd imagine.

...here's a few pics of how i have my stuff set up, first the veg tent which has no scrubber attached so it's just a 265CFM squirrel cage blowing straight up and out, ...i have no pictures of the intakes but all i did was put 8inch ducting elbows on either side with a short piece of ducting run to the floor of the tent, ...it doesn't need to be 100% light tight because it's only a veg tent.

...now this is my 4ft x 4ft closet where i built a raised floor to allow for intake air to flow beneath the grow and to enter through the back.
DSCI0179.jpg DSCI0178.jpg DSCI0176.jpg

...and this is how i have my exhaust set up and you'll have to imagine it piercing the panda plastic wall as i didn't take any pics of that, ...my door is still gaffed so i wasn't proud enough to take a picture of the finished product, lol, but trust me, it just goes straight through so no ducting really at all (there is about an 8inch piece that connects to the exhaust side of the fan and pierces the panda but not bends, anywhere).

so hopefully that will help you out and in the future i'd recommend you develop a thicker skin or you will end up being hounded by trolls, ...they live for baiting people with thin skins.

...yeah man, if you look you'll see my fan and scrubber are held together with duct tape, ...and i wasn't suggesting you run ducting out of the house, i'm suggesting you hang your main exhaust fan on the INSIDE of your TENT and MAKE them attatch, maybe a 6inch piece of ducting duct taped, one end to the fan, one end to the scrubber, but essentially connected directly together INSIDE your tent, then run that air STRAIGHT out of the tent.

...and take your INTAKE fan out of service and just open up the round vents in the tent and put 8 inch ducting elbows in them, ...if light escapes here you can use short pieces of ducting hose, ...the inside can also be painted a flat black.

nothing i can do until i change the light over again i might do it 2mz, i think also i had the hps like 1 foot away from top of plants - which is clearly to close so thats another reason the heat was to high lol ill check 2mz hopefully its sorted ill let you know thanks

Air is locked (called enviormental roll ) in the tent = no Neg pressure, System not ducted correctly , the fan that is supplying the fresh air ,just let it supply in the room it self (remove intake to tent) Now what you have created is a positive presure room , Now I would need to know the CFM of the fan that is exhausting from the tent to really help but here is a base line on what is needed to correct your air flow , if is 200cfm you need to use or create a 8'' round opening in the tent, if the exhaust fan is 201- 500 cfm this opening would need to be 10'' round, then you will have crated a negtive pressure enviorment in the tent, if you follow my instuctions you will achieve close to a 1 min 100% air exchange ,and your tent temps will be with in a 2 deg dif from your positive presure room temp. I move Air for a living 30 + yrs exp.

You could always add CO2 to your grow to minimize the damage done by the heat.
...do you really think this kind of advice is helpful homey?

adding Co2 is an advanced technique used by experienced growers with sealed and dialed in setups, ...not for noobs with temperature issues caused by incorrect ducting and fan placement.

...so offering this kind of advice in this kind of situation shows you either don't understand his problem or you are just making noise.
