I've run across quite of few Christians that believe this to be real evidence of the story of Jesus Christ.

I call bull shit!! Discuss.

was this is the only religious artifact you have doubted in your life?
James, brother of Jesus, the ossuary(bone box) was a fake............the ivory pomegranate staff ornament.........countless stone tablets and clay pots and cups have been faked,...even the shroud has been proven to be fake I think it originated in the 1300's.....because people have a hard time disputing the existence of Jesus Christ or anything that goes against the Bible......who wouldn't I mean I would love to find proof that Jesus was a real person who could do miracles and rose from the dead......but I DON'T want to prove an artifact to be forged,I would not want to be that guy:)......what do y'all think?....Simcha Jacobovici- the Naked Archaeologist is he self serving or a real help in proving the existence or non-existence of Jesus or anything that pretains to him......I liked his shows but have been hearing bad things about him lately.peace

I agree with your views on Simcha Jacobovici he does have a new show now (not the naked one)

My point was..... why does he only point out Christian fakes when surely there are PLENTY of other non Christian religious fakes out there as well.. some which are not even allowed to be tested.. for example

Stone of the Ka'bah at Mecca (thought to be a meteor by current scientific communities) why wont they allow this to be tested ?

If your looking for a religious answer in a physical item... your doing it wrong.

Religion (regardless of the religion is purely based on faith alone)

I question those who only question the Christian religions yet... avoid all of the other religions whilst attempting to make some sort of point..

Israel has a very tight grip on hundreds of biblical antiques that could easily be tested and proven fake!.....don't get me wrong I would love to see proof Jesus was Jesus Christ............but science and fact are making it very hard to believe........and yes, religion is really faith based.....I know what you mean......but having grown up going to church till I was 10-11 and just now really reading the bible.........I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK ANYMORE:(........

ask any Pastor if he has struggled once or more and see his response.. all intelligent people should do the research themselves.. religion to each person is personal..

I personally will have to deal with God when I see God and explain my reasoning for why I believe what I do based on the information I questioned and sought answers too..

It can't be painted. Viewed under microscope the colouration is only on the very top fibres, so it couldn't be paint, dye etc...
I don't think we'll find any answers here, just more questions......cool!;)

I suspect you've already mentioned the big difference ... permission. What other religion will allow scientific tests of its relics? The Eastern ones don't have relics ... which leaves the Abrahamics. Judaism makes no especial claims about any relic of which i am aware, and that leaves Islam. It has Sacred Relics, but none with imputed miraculous origin or power, except possibly the Black Stone in the Ka'aba, and that one indirectly. So I deduce that the question of the authenticity of a relic is a characteristically Christian one. It's the only major faith with material articles said to have been made or remade with divine power. I am impressed that the Vatican did permit independent testing of the Shroud. cn

I felt like i was getting healed when was viewing the shroud. Something to think about.
There was also a report of i believe it was a Persian man who was healed by the shroud.
Regardless of whether it's real or not, it could still have healing powers.
An object that is venerated and viewed by multitudes of people could be given healing powers from God.
I've also heard many different reports of the validity of the shroud.
Some say it could be real, others false.

It's proven to be fake. Concrete proof, as in no more speculating. The dates don't match up.

That proves you feel what you want to feel. You believe it's divine, so it is, regardless of the evidence.

It doesn't prove i feel what i want to feel.
I felt something when viewing the shroud.
I didn't say it was real.
There are other explanations.
Not everything is black and white.

It's possible that collective belief in the shroud can charge it with power.
Don't be so hasty to jump to conclusions.

Yup, proven fake! But....nobody can work out how it was created, not even close!
Which is a greater mystery because it isn't reliant on any strange notion of "Faith"...

Here's a photo of Jesus........Thats not Jesus.......But it's still a photo....?

That may well be true, but it's not really pertinent to this discussion about the shroud of Turin...

I did prefer your thoughts on projected healing power...
