So in short I put these guys in the ground on January 2nd they are extremely small for their age I believe. They are from the left; Critical #47, Bubba Kush, G-13 Haze and Critical #47. I've had them under four 24 Watt CFLs (in a square setup) for 10 days, I just turned on four more and changed their arrangement. I haven't tested the PH of any of the soil yet but I'm planning on doing that tomorrow. What Should I do to help these little guys GROW? They're in MiracleGrow Organic Moisture Control and I've been giving them bottled water. Should I buy SuperThrive? I'm building a box that I will paint flat white so I should have enough light.. They're.. They're.. So Smallll.

i see a few problems...is this your first go?? ok NEVER use mg its garbage for tomatoes, also your soil appears absolutely drenched which is not a huge problem as a seedling but by the time you have a second leaf set you want to be on a watering schedule where you get some dry time to allow air to the roots. please tell me you made some holes in the bottom of those cups? also, were those mine, they would be under one single compact flouro at this point and it would have a reflector and be about two inches off the top of the cups. so much of your light is going the wrong way....i would recommend transplanting the entire cups of dirt into a final pot of 3-5 gallons with some better soil. normally i would do this at about 6 inches however i think you will benefit from the dry soil wicking some of that water and as soon as your roots grow into the new soil they will be much happier than with the mg crap. you will then have to change your light set up to its permanent configuration to cover all the plants....you dont need much light for veg i have personally used 4 compact 100w flouros for five plants before and they came out great and in a normal amount of time...have any more specific questions feel free to ask away

no super thrive just take care of them right! stick to the basicis and buy distilled water not bottled...then when the jug is empty just refill it with tap and make sure to let the tap water sit out for a day or two before using it again

Pictures from my iPhone come out all faded because the lens is scuffed, the soil is actually dry now, about 2 & 1/2 inches deep. Where can I buy this so-called good soil? Besides $100 Fox-Farm? This was all that Home Depot or Menards had. I'm on a bit of a budget now. How much dry time do I need? Do you think my soil could really be Messing my plant growth up that much!? They're really small!

seedlings dont like anthing but water. do not feed them.

make sure youre not over watering them. the smaller the plant, the less water. you only want to give them enough to drive in a 24-48hr time period. as a seedling, i water them with like 2oz every day or every other day if the humidity is high and the water doesnt transpire.

the way it works is that the seedlings will hatch, and get just big enough to begin photosynthesize. then they stop growing above the ground, until the roots have been setup, and can support then plant, then the plant exits seedling stage, enters veg and grows fast.

seems like roots are devloping becuase oxygen is not in soil. make sure soils not too wet. thats usually main issue. you have good light

OHHHHhhhh that could make sense!

They definetley got stunted somehow.
And yes, I agree they did.
I put them in cups, then after they came up I put the four lights on them 24/0. I'm very disappointed in myself and nature that they are not big strong and healthy looking plants!!! Grr. I don't know!! I'm a bad caretaker..

How dry can they get before they die? :O :O

What about Pro Mix.. Sold at most Rona's, and sometimes Home Depot.. It has Mycorrhizae which is good for roots, I get 107L for like $30.. Or make your own mix, with a peat moss based soil, and no nutrient in them.. Mix that with a bit of Perlite and/or Vermiculite.. And it will be better than MG, Also this can all be bought at most Wal-Mart's.. Cost about $20 for 60L..

you can also add some extra perlite which you can get at the home depot this will cut down slightly on amount of soil used....

I have been using miracle grow moisture control dirt for a long time and its pretty fuckin good so IMHO your way off. Have you ever actually used MG dirt? I use GH floraduo for nutes.. Check out my grow journal in my sig

sorry guy the majority agrees with me..notice how everyone is suggesting other soils instead of sticking up for the mg. the problem with mg is its delayed release so depending on how wet the soil stays it releasees at different rates so you never know what your giving your plant. this also causes hot zones and causes you to not be able to make minor adjustments. also mg uses chem ferts so that rules out the organic growers. the real question isnt have i used mg the question is have you ever used a specialty high grade soil? for near the same price why the hell would you continue to use an inferior product not actually made for what your growing

They're in MiracleGrow Organic Moisture Control.
I use miracle grow moisture control but Ive never heard of MG organic moisture control... Its one or the other.. I just tried a bag or MG organic and it took to long to dry out. It had like no perlite in it.. If you buy a bag of perlite and add it yourself then im sure its good stuff.. From the pic it looks like you have organic and not moisute control but I could be wrong but either way add a good amount of perlite to that dirt when you transplant them in about 15 days.

I couldnt care less who agrees.. I use it and it works great.. I also grow in dwc and used plenty of other soil mixes and this one is by far the easiest.. and I get killer bud every time.. I dont want to argue in this guys thread either because this topic has been discussed so many times before so lets just leave it alone :bigjoint: and its just personal preference anyway

lol its all good.. I do feel kinda ghetto using MG :bigjoint: but i have like 30 clones and I cant mix dirt for them all the time but i would mix my own dirt if I only had a few plants.. I take like 3-5 clones every week and I wouldnt be able to keep up with that..
