Happy new year RIU!
First of all thank you everybody for all your help!
I've been real busy working most of x-mas so I haven't really had any time with the garden or time for updating RIU. I also have been out for the past 5 days me and my girlfriend went up to San Francisco and Yosemite for a quick little getaway.
Today 12/31/2012 I woke up around 4am already wanting to leave the cabin in Yosemite to be able to arrive on time to see the ladies. Even though we thoroughly watered them before leaving on vacation 12/27/2012 they were pretty dry we just watered them real good and took a couple of pictures. Once I have time I'll write up a descent post.

The tops are really starting to show, the only stinky one is the OG-Kush no smell on the Koshers yet. Week 3 day 23

Was surprised to find these roots sticking out ot of the bottom of the Air-pots. I can't wait to see the root system once harvest comes around. Should I be worried about roots sticking out like this?

Hey, I just started my first setup similar to yours...400W MH veg and 600W HPS flower
growing my own personal medicine and looking for quality.
my ventilation is nowhere near as professional as yours yet...but I'm getting there.
how far do you keep you MH away from the tops of the plants?
did you 'supercrop' any of yours?
I bent my first flowering indica a week into flower and she LOVED it.
along with stressing it out, it puts all the buds on the same horizontal plane (for the most part, depending how you bend and twist...)
I'm just using bag seeds though. Bet yours turns out amazing!!
and one last question. Did you supplement the HPS with any other lights in flower? (to get more blue/green in there?)
I was reading about dual band bulbs that have both MH and HPS in them. and some people just throw in an MH, CFL, LED or aquarium bulb to round it out.

Hello RIU i have bad news "i think"...
I've been reading about Kosher Kush and I've always seen a lot of hermie stories, I'm currently in week 3 of flower and one of my kosher's has some kind of nanner/ball.
Once RIU says HERM I will chop it down!

That is definently a hermie, but you can scrape them off and let it go, but you have to clean it at least every other day, if not everyday. Just don't let them get ripe and you should do well.
Or you could kill it to remove all doubt.

And yeah, so far I have made plenty of mistakes, either just from being dumb or from ignorance. I don't regret any of it, as I've learned a lot from every single mistake (that I've been able to pinpoint that is). I'm sure there are plenty staring me in the face that I will eventually realize And I won't regret those either.

Beautiful setup! In the past year I've went from Autoflowers to Photoperiods and now I'm switching from soil to hydro (DWC to be exact). Soil is fun but I had to see what all the hydro hype was about. So, I've been piecing all of my equipment together and reading reading reading. I got a book and a dvd by Jorge Cervantes for Xmas from my lady. I thought I had it all pretty much nailed until I read that book and saw the dvd. It's a never ending learning process and I absolutely love it!
I'm subbed and will be dropping in occasionally to check you out! From the looks of it, you have a ton of help from good people in this thread. When I first came to this site I was horrible at staying consistent with posts' and what not so I didn't get much help. Now all I do is come and read peoples journals and chime in when I can. Hey, it takes a village to raise them girls, especially in the beginning! Good luck and blessings to you in your new endeavour! Stay medicated!

After finding two trannys I am now down to 6/8 plants. In the bright side I now have no airflow/condensation issues. Pic attached is OG-KUSH WEEK 4 DAY 29. I can easily say the favorite of the bunch, way to go freebies!
I am now trying to figure out what would be the optimal way of having a staggered grow and stay under the California "legal" limit.
Senate Bill 420, which was signed into law in October 2003 and took effect on January 1, 2004, imposes statewide guidelines outlining how much medicinal marijuana patients may grow and possess. Under the guidelines, qualified patients and/or their primary caregivers may possess no more than eight ounces of dried marijuana and/or six mature (or 12 immature) marijuana plants. However, S.B. 420 allows patients to possess larger amounts of marijuana when such quantities are recommended by a physician. The legislation also allows counties and municipalities to approve and/or maintain local ordinances permitting patients to possess larger quantities of medicinal pot than allowed under the new state guidelines.
I don't like having only one grow, too much "down" time. I want to start staggering ASAP, want to start vegging 6 plants in another tent by the end of this month.

CFL BOX FOR SEEDLINGS / EARLY VEG
Hello once again! Now in the later stage of my first grow I am snooping around the house filled with grower ideas its amazing since I started growing the perception of certain things has changed. I now walk around a Home Depot, Ikea etc. and all I can see is possible grow closets!
I already took the decision to purchase a smaller 2x4 tent for veg and probably stick a 400w/MH in it. But after the holidays the budget isnt letting me buy it just yet but I really dont want to lose time in my future grow.
Well here is what my stoner self found around home, I see it as a seedling/early veg chamber. Please let me know if it would work I also don't want to compromise quality using CFL over HID.
Closet dimensions, and key features.
As of right now this is a leg for my work table that is inside of my working closet. It is an IKEA VIKA ALEX storage unit.

Ventilation
In the upper part of the cabinet there is a smaller 3 hole. Would I need any type of major extraction for seedlings/early veg?
For air flow I would put a smaller 6 clip fan.
To sum up, WOULD THIS WORK? WOULD I NOTICE LOWER QUALITY IN THE END?

I dont think heat will be that big of an issue. If so maybe cut a hole in the back top of the cabinet and add a pc fan for exhaust. Great idea either way! Stay medicated!
