The photos with the thermometer in them were taken last night. Notice the threaded rods...I will drop my SCROG screen down on the plant using these rods. You can also see the irrigation tube hanging down on right side.

How big was your grow space?

Good morning. This is my first post about my first grow. For this post I will describe my grow by dissecting the title.

This is my first grow...if you don't count the six foot male plant that I grew in my closet when I was in college 35 years ago. Smoked every leaf of it.
My Dinafem F1 Blue Widow Feminized seed popped her little head out of her Rockwool cube on 10/10/12. I switched to 12/12 yesterday.

For lighting, I built a ten socket light valance....bulbs installed horizontally. Have not needed to use all light potential yet. However, I did crank it up
with ten 26 watt CFL's installed just to check it out. Very, very bright. My grow cabinet is only 1.56 square feet. The valance has a window glass
leaf guard installed on the bottom to prevent any overambitious leaves from touching the hot bulbs. Right now J am using just six of my available ten
sockets with a 26 watt Soft White spiral CFL in each. This gives me 156 watts. From my research on RIU and other sites, the consensus seems to
be that 50 watts per squarefoot is adequate. With my cabinet having a footprint of only 1.56 sqft, I am putting double the required amount of light on my plant. There is an 80mm, 21 CFM computer fan installed top center on light valance to exhaust hot air from around bulbs. That hot air is picked up by my main exhaust fan, (same fan as valance) mounted top center in cabinet ceiling where it is ducted above the ceiling of my garage where I hope (bring
hot air, and hot air rises) it will evacuate my attic space through the ridge vent.
Those empty light sockets were really starting to bug me. I've been reading that you can't have too much light. So I decided, "What the hey, I'll fill up those sockets." Once upon a time in another life, for a short misbegotten period I was a car salesman. The one thing that I took from that experience was this phrase. "There's an ass for every seat". Well, that phrase transfers here as, "There's a bulb for every socket." In this case, four more soft white CFL's, 13 watters. This brings my wattage up to 208 watts in my 1 1/2 sqft grow space. I will keep a close eye on temps, even though it's December, in my area we are still getting the occasional 80 degree day. If I was still vegging, I wouldn't have added more lights but since I am on 12/12 and my light period is at night and the lights are off during the day I think I should be ok, heatwise.....Chockfullonuts

Looks good. I'm also doing a cfl micro cab scrog but with a little less vertical space. As you do your LST make sure the stems have room in the hooks they look good right now but if they get wide enough to reach the sides of the hook that can constrict/ choke the stem/ branch.

Thanks for the comments Dan. I'm watching the stem growth. I have 1/2", 3/4" and today I picked some 1" hooks. What I have been doing is this: When I first pull down a stem, I hold it down with a 1/2" hook, as the stem grows, I move my hook out toward the growing tip where it is smaller. If necessary I can use the larger hooks, but I like to use 1/2" if possible because they hold it closer to the table. Since I am pinning it down to a table I can fasten anywhere. I think that when I drop the screen down on her, I will remove a lot of the hooks.

You said that you have less vertical space than I have. What are the dimensions of your cabinet?....Chockfullonuts

Images left to right, taken this evening. First pic taken right after the lights came on; lighter to show scale. Second pick is growing tip befor LST. The third image is a random grow tip., The fourth is one of two larger trunks. The fifth image is the growing tip from the second pic with new hook placement. Next picture is looking down on top of plant. Next pic shows plant back under lights after manipulation. Last pic shows empty cabinet with Lego bucket supports. Hole at front left of cabinet is Hempy drain hole....Chockfullonuts

Things are going same, same for my grow. She grows, I watch her grow and I hook her to the table and she grows some more and I pin her down again.
I measured her tonight; tallest tip is 2 1/2" above table. I hope to continue along this line until the table is full. I counted 25+/- growing tips tonight. I have 64 spaces in my screen but I don't really there is enough room in this little box for that many buds. I don't really know how long the plant continues to veg after switching the lights. I will have to find out. I switched to 12/12 on December 1.

Here are some pics from tonight. #1 Right after she woke up 7:00 PM. #2 is the grow tip of one of two large stems. #3 After LST. #4 Back in the box.
#5 Under the lights. #6, and #7, are pics of the clone from the tip from my big plant after I topped it on Oct. 30. Took a long time to get going. After it started growing, I Fimmed it, got 4 trunks, Bigger, Smaller, smaller yet and even smaller. I was feeding it the same concoction of nutes as I am feeding the larger plant, MISTAKE!....nute burn. Changed the nutes...everything OK now. It is planted in my Maxwell House Coffee Tub Hempy bucket training table SCROG setup. This screen for this system is round. That is about it from me for tonight......ChockfullonutsView attachment 2432352View attachment 2432353View attachment 2432354View attachment 2432355View attachment 2432378View attachment 2432379View attachment 2432380View attachment 2432381View attachment 2432370View attachment 2432373View attachment 2432372
