Yeah I agree. Marijuana has a bad stigma some are legit, some are not. But why is that? Where does it come from? Isn't it the reality that fuckheads in every aspect of life that ruin it all for the majority of us? When you say we are a political joke, do mean the marijuana movement?

Peace
Salt
i'd say a good bit of it comes from the product itself. it effects everyone differently, but for most of us, it is just like, dude. duuuuude.

and cannabis re-legalization is gaining steam, but still not great as a 'movement'. did you see the bill they penned in oregon? it was just like, dude. duuuuuuude.

we need to pull it together if we want a higher success rate. we like getting higher, right?

OB and HRM are a proven science. Stress in the right amounts keeps you motivated. The word you're looking for is satisfied. Like in Brave New World, the Gammas tell themselves they don't have to worry as much.

How can you call either a science? That's as screwed as calling cultural anthropology a science. cn

so he is not talking about Obstetrics and His Royal Majesty? Acronyms are worse than useless if you dont spell out the words at some relevant point.

also, anthropology is exactly as scientific as philosophy.

I believe it stands for Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management.

I believe physical anthropology is a fledgling science ... you have actual articles to measure and collate.
Imo all studies of culture are humanities. There's not much difference between cultural anthropology and the older disciplines of studying literature and arts.

But this raises a philosophical question. Science is constrained to the study of the phenomena that can be reproduced or re-observed. Does a story qualify? It has the key qualities of repeatability and definition. cn

Bear,
Why aren't they science? No more bullshit than some of the theories in evolution. It's so fucked up that humans are now Homo Sapiens Sapiens and cro-magnon is the new Homo Sapiens. Wtf?

I won't engage you in re evolution ... you have some rather unconventional opinions in that regard.

But since I'm sure you've read some history and philosophy of science, you'll remember that science is constrained to classifiable, observable phenomena ... repeatable if done in a lab. Managerial arts are just that ... arts. There is as yet no real science of human behavior. Sociology etc. want the title, but, like economics, have only statistics to show. And Clemens put statistics firmly in their place over a century ago by remarking that there were lies; there were damned lies, and then there were statistics. Beyond statistics there is endless room for interpretation, the hallmark of the humanities. My opinion. cn

Bear,
Marketing,Operations/Logistics,OB and HRM,all use same or similar models, formulas and methods.Marketing's goal is to change behavior. If sales of items increase, there's and introduced variable. That variable is measurable and repeatable, thus a science.

That doesn't fight clear of my accusation of statistics. The real problem with the Satan of Clemens is that they conceal all the premises and presumptions that go into them. Many are saying economics is a science, but that doesn't make it so. Bankers and actuaries (who drive the models you mention) are also skilled workers in numbers, populations and trends ... but theirs isn't science either. cn

you just crossed the shit line, bear. actuarial work is science. the proof is in the profitability of casinos and insurance companies.

Bear,
Then you consider computer science not science? CS also uses the exact same models OB, HRM, etc use. They share ideas so much so, many universities offer CS MBAs.

There are two kinds of computer science. The uncommon one goes by other names, e.g. computational chemistry. The common one is actually engineering. Not software "engineering" ... that's still farther down the food chain.

But the greatest rape of the ideas involved goes to the coiners of the term Political Science. Jmo. cn

Bear,
This proves science is arbitrary. Therefore, science, can be a science and not a science at the same time.
I'll stifle the reflexive Noitdoesn't and ask ... "how ya figure"? What people say is/isn't science proves schtuff about people, not science imo. cn
