minimum 3 kessil lights in my tent and i would have eventually added side lighting
I have to say that I'm a Kessil fan. I took a class on LED lighting from Cree and learned a little about how to build 'em...learned enough that once I got my hands on a Kessil that I was impressed by the engineering...so I bought 3 more and the spectral spinner. I can tell you that I've had lush, tight internodal difference veg and switched to flower about a week ago and the plants seems to be thriving. I'm using fluorescent side lighting. Probably will always use some side lighting but someday that too may be LED as I am impressed so far. A well engineered LED is worth some money and the cheap ones....well...keep your pennies in your pocket...at least my thoughts. I don't know anything about the site that you linked so I'm not commenting directly on them.

I'm really happy with the Kessils so far but for the future of LED side lighting, I'm thinking about diy for me. I don't think that it's a lot cheaper but for the same money, you may build a better unit..if you are diy type...but then again, I'd get started with a couple of Kessils (growershouse has them for $270 new) and use fluorescent side lighting and see how it all goes.

The only real problems I've had with LEDs so far is that it has lowered the temps enough that I need to supplement with a heater sometimes (but won't it be an absolute dream in summer!) and I've overwatered a couple of times because there's just not the heat to dry up the pots..but these are problems that I can handle. :)

BTW, at this point I'm using one Kessil H350 per 8 gallon plant (veg'd for two months) and supplemental fluorescent side lighting.

Absolutely with you on that, I love my Kessils. I wish I had more money to get 2 more of the H350's :)

Does anyone have any experience with the Kessil lights? I attempted to search the thread but only got one result... the first page that has the link to kessil. are they any good? to me it seems the look of too good to be true for being able to use them solely. they just seem so much like a spot light for added light, but i only have a 4'wx2'dx5't tent with a 400hps air cooled 4" system. I could upgrade and bla bla, but im already at the point that stealthy is no longer that... oddly during the summer its a piece a cake to run. I just use the house AC and dump a cold air vent into the top of the tent. i vent into a "heatsink" (basically im venting into a box, in a box. the air has to pass through chambers before its vented into the closet that the tent is in.) but now that we are running the AC less and less i have no cool air to grab and nowhere to put my heat (because it does build up some over the course of 12 hrs).
So i am searching for another solution. my limitations are basically the tent size and im looking for lighting that will allow me to run the 12/12 from seed style. so being able to tailor plants lighting with several spotlights might be beneficial in my case... or am i off on that?

thoughts?

Edit: im referring to the H350's btw.
I love Kessil's, I use one H150 and one H350. The Deep Purple would be good for growing from seed as it has both red and blue frequencies. Depending on how many plants you want to grow, will depend on how many you have to buy since they are more like a beam instead of an all over light. I'd say with the setup you have, possibly 3 or 4 Kessil's would work. Gotta get them real close to the plants, as they get the best results 0-6 inches away from the canopy. Also would cut your electric bill in half ;)

I've been using the Solarstorm 400 by California Lightworks for almost 2 months now and I love the unit. Extremely quiet and the two Blueberry Sour Diesels growing under them are very squat and lush. Very minimal stretching. Only downside is that it gives off a little more heat than other units, but that should be expected since its such a small unit pushing out a little more than 300 watts.

For those interested in a quality LED lamp, check out CLW's website. They have an "End of the World" sale going on right now, and you can also try to apply for their Growers Feedback Program for a STEAL on one of their units.

Well, after going back and reading like I should have I find that the Area51 seem to me to be in the front running... and i am always swayed by the fact that someone from the Co. can be reached through here... how many other manufacturers are on RIU? seriously? how many? or are there any others? which stands out in my book... accessibility is important to someone ready to drop a K on lights... not everyone have bottomless pockets to try n try n try... so when i see soooo many with actual results that involve cannabis .. well... that speaks miles doesnt it?

EH, Good on you! keep up the work, and ill keep my eye on A51 for the new year!

my pockets hot... but not so hot i cant wait til taxes LMAO.

i've been banging on about them since i got one and its only been a few weeks but i know healthy plants when i see them and judging by dawg's and beef's grows they works hella well for flowering too, mines only the 170watt version 90led's, got my 200 watt cfl but they were stretching like anything under that, 2 inches of stem as seedling's i put my led in, vertical growth slowed and ive got nice tight nodal spacing and healthy green leaves! i can say for sure that my 200 watt's of cfl at 2/3 inches werent doing as well as my 170watt of led at 25". get A51 they are GREAT for the price and there service for me was great, jeff replied to my emails in minutes sometimes, and he was honest about them being made in china and shipping from china ect hope some of this clear up the led thing, i researched this for a month before i got one, so im pretty confident saying they are the best out there right now, especially in terms of cost

Most company owners try too hard to advertise and get banned... Jeff at AREA 51 is mostly answering questions and sometimes defending himself... I have seen him talking good about other brands too. I dont think they are that many people promoting their business on here other than Subcool... usually when they do it`s their first and last post on RIU

So the A51 ships from china? How long did it take to get to you? assuming ur in the US.

i dont care where something is made... where it is made makes no never mind... shoot yourself in the foot some times by being a USA only person...
I use to buy all of my laptop batteries via china... its the same thing without the markup... and if that is how A51 is saving me money... kudos!

But i have ordered stuff from Amsterdam (glass) that just never showed up were in the 3rd month of waiting LMAO... and i ordered some hand crafted stuff from the Ukraine a couple years ago that took 6 months to arrive... so the whole overseas is ok with me thing wears out right about the time i have to wait more than 30 days from ordering to get it....
at that point the price markup becomes applicable to me cause im not gonna wait 3 months for anything i buy... fuck that! To impatient LMAO

Hydro grow talking shit about about advanced, lumigrow, and kessil...slanderous marketing strikes again! If your company is losing business to the competition, try your hardest to bring them down with you!

http://www.hydrogrowled.com/Comparing-LEDs-W8.aspx

Im smelling bs all over these "tests"
Wow, I don't know about the others so much but the fair comparison price wise would be to the Kessil H350 which is 90 watts which I can buy any day of the week new for $270. I have purchased for less than that too; you can buy a new one off e-bay right now for about $250 shipped. Talk about being afraid to make fair comparisons.

It Took About 10 Days From When I Ordered My Light To When It Hit My Doorstep

Last time I decided on a dime that I wanted 2 af600, I wanted them ASAP... I cant remember the exact dates but it took less than 2 weeks after I ordered...

As the cliche suggests sometimes it's a double edge sword scenario. According to eshine they actually invented the Diamond Series Lenses

"E.shine Systems is the original manufacturer of Diamond Series LED Grow Light, as well as the only seller in 2010, Eshine Systems developed 3G LED Grow Light in June, 2010 and Advancedledlights bought 3G LED grow lights from Eshine Systems when E.shine released the first bulk of 3G series. After tests, advancedledlights signed the agreement as E.shine’s sole agent of US market. E.shine has all their purchasing and shipments’ records if someone wants them for proofs."

Here's the link to the rest of the rebuttal release www.eshinesystems.com/declaration.html

Thanks for posting that, pretty damn proud of those new lights based on three years of producing LED grow lights.

Farscaper - we are in here when we can be but answering calls, filling order, doing R&D, and just keeping things running smoothly takes most of our focus. We try to jump in the good forums but the volume of posts on sites such as rollitup alone makes it hard to catch everything. Although, I do agree that you should be able to communicate with a company, even if it isn't a K you are spending. Keep us posted if you end up with Area 51, not very familiar with those lights yet.

Cheers
