Does a closed-room CO2 setup need air exchange? (intake or exhaust)?

My growroom is a closed-room setup.
Aircooled, CO2 enrichment, and a well-aerated reservoir.

I have been getting mixed answers to the following question:
Do i need to have any kind of air-exchange/renewal, fresh intake, or exhaust?

Please, if you do not know the answer, dont reply.

However, i am desperate for a confidently positive answer.
Please, if anybody can give me an answer, reply!

Thanks!

if possible i would keep the door cracked a little just for a little fresh air to get in

patrickkawi - thanks for your input. i agree srh2006 is posting un-needed bogus info with no reasoning.

If anybody else can please give me an answer, i would appreciate as much feedback as possible.

bro im 100% positive. if your using co2 and bringing in fresh air, your throwing money out the window. stay as sealed as possible. i dont even vent my hoods anymore, no fresh air coming from anywhere.

I think it's best that when using co2 it's in cycles. there is no need to be running it 24/7 and no need at all to run it during veg. when using co2 during flower when the lights are on its great to have a sealed room. come lights out tho, you want some "clean air" plants use CO2 with the lights on but not during the dark cycle. i'm fairly sure that even c4 plants use just O2 during lights out.

psillysimon - some of the info youre giving makes no sense! first off, the plants themselves produce oxygen! so why would they need fresh oxygen at night? Youre giving them CO2 during the day, and none at night. But at that point, my CO2 levels have dropped back down to normal. Bottom line is, why would you need to bring in fresh air? PS. i disagree about running CO2 in cycles. even though its doing its best work during bloom, its still great to run during veg. Not only because it grows plants vigorously faster, but also because they grow more symmetrically, and stronger thicker stems to support the big flowers the CO2 produces in bloom!! So yea. But anyway, bottom line is, why would they need fresh air at night?

if you allow your air to sit then you can get rot and bugs and can stunt your plants i agree with psillysimon that it should be done in cycles and that it needs fresh air when not getting co2

and again, you say it should get fresh air when its not getting co2, but my question is WHY? i want a scientific answer or reasoning behind why you think that.. because for one, the plants produce their own oxygen lol..

You DON"T need fresh air at night. but plants DO NOT consume co2 at night. they intake o2 and produce CO2. so if you are confident that your room has enough O2 to get them through their night then brava. as for vegging...i have never used co2 just a proper veg length around 50-60 days maybe i should try to use it during veg. I just really don't think it will increase growth that much.

Plants do not take in O2 ever. Plants take in CO2 and produce O2. Whether the lights are on or off. The only reason I could think of to get "fresh air" would be not about getting fresh air but relieving pressure inside the unit created by the plant releasing O2. And even then the pressure would only need to be relieved every couple days or so. Also depending on how much CO2 you are putting in also make some pressure.

You haven't got a clue do you? Back away from the keyboard before somebody gets hurt.

psillysimon - I agree that CO2 is more of a help during bloom, but TRUST ME, running it during veg DOES make a difference.. You will see WAY faster growth, WAY thicker stems, and WAY more uniform growth - and everything is bigger (the leafs and nodes and stems etc). So using CO2 during veg will not only help you grow faster, but it will help create a healthy plant that is capable of producing and holding the weight of massive buds. Otherwise you'll have thinner stems and everything that isnt capable of holding up big buds. Assuming you personally use CO2 during bloom but not veg, i'll bet you have issues with your buds weighing down your branches, and having to use bamboo or something to hold them up and keep them from snapping off or tipping over.. But if you use CO2 during veg, you'll produce a plant thats capable of holding the massive weight on their own.

Also, i know they dont consume CO2 at night... but you're wrong about them consuming O2 and putting out CO2 at night.. where the hell did you get this information? So why would they need fresh air at night? I understand maybe exhausting at night to relieve some pressure in the room, but not because the plants need fresh air..

If somebody can give me a SCIENTIFIC answer/reason for why a closed-room co2 setup would need ANY kind of exhaust or intake, at any time whatsoever, PLEASE reply because i want to hear some real facts.

Plants use O2 at night for respiration. Don't know about a closed grow system but plants use O2 at night.

Coho - Where did you get this information? and why do you think they would need O2 at night? They breathe in CO2 and produce their own O2.. And at night, they sleep. So why would they need O2 at night?

Thinking aabout they produce 10 xs the O2 as they use there should be enough in a closed environment.

So do they need air intake, exhaust, or exchange or any kind, at night or any other time, whatsoever, in a closed room setup?
