The reaction of the plant to "create more branches to accommodate for the severed limb" is a result of a chemical reaction and is done for the plants survival. It has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence or feelings. It is a reaction to a stimulus.

And the book is propped up by the table. Maybe you should just learn to read period.
A book propped up by a table? Must be a small table, or you live in wonderland with Alice. But whatever, that is irrelevant. Chemical reaction that stimulates cell growth. Hmm. I don't think I need to explain that one.
Stimulus may refer to:

^ That sounds like brain activity.

I am sorry but feelings are emotions and emotions are chemical reactions. Am I wrong?

You guys that believe plants have a conscious mind must prove it to us.. How do you know they have consciousness? I'm guessing that they don't have a consciousness since they don't have a nervous system nor a brain..

Of course not. In order to have feelings you have to have emotions, and to have emotions you have to have a conscious mind. I cant believe this is even being debated.

Not to mention if a plant doesn't have a conscious mind why does it have the instinct to survive. Or if is something is in it's way it has the intelligence to move around it. Like humans. If we are walking in the street and a car is coming toward us, we have the instinct and the intelligence to move out of the way.

It does, yet they don't have brains...

Yes you are wrong. Or maybe my battery is conscious...

We should build a plant college for these smart individuals.. Sure they don't have a brain or a central nervous system, but fuck it they have a conscious mind since I said they do..

Sarcasm.. In case you didn't catch that.

Hmm.. Sorry for the sarcasm, not the friendliest way to sort out a debate.

I have seen rivers move around things too. Does that make them conscious and intelligent?

Only in a cannabis growing forum would the poll be tied between people who believe plants have a conscious mind and those who don't believe they have one..

Damn plant lovers :)

Plants have instinctual actions embedded in its DNA. That has nothing to do with feelings.

Once again, I cant believe ppl are actually debating this issue. A plant cannot have feelings. Its impossible.

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

IMO, saying plants have a conscious mind is just as dumb.. Now I'm not saying the person who believes this is dumb.
