How would raising taxes affect you and our economy?

And of course Stephen King knows what the "fair share" should be. The top 1% of income earners pay over 20% of all taxes collected. They also employ most of us. Tax them more so they have to cut our wages and work us harder. Isn't that the way Lenin did it? You know, make us all equally poor.

this is little different than island tribes consigning virgins to volcanoes because... if they don't, the rain won't come! We had better keep our masters happy or they might not pay us. I don't know about you, but I have no master, When I worked for someone richer than I, I performed an exchange, I worked a set number of hours and they paid me for them, if they changed the deal (oh, I can't pay you, my taxes went to 22 percent), I left for a better deal and I always found it.

And I kinda wonder, did your wages go up when their taxes went down? I thought not.

but seriously, it would help reduce the enormous and dangerous income inequality situation to more sustainable levels, helping to even the playing field and make it more possible for the little guys to team up against the big guy.
And there it is, in a nutshell. Raising taxes has nothing to do with fiscal responsibility or economic strength, it's all about class envy. Income equality, sustainable levels, even the outcomes, us against them... those who wish to lord over others have no sense of liberty.

it's not about envy, mr. romney. i would not trade my simple life for any amount of money.

it's about giving everyone a fair shake. it's about preventing plutocracy. basically, it's about keeping america...america.

wasn't it great how wages went up when we cut their taxes?

oh, wait. they just pocketed the money. now they are even more capable of lobbying for policies that benefit them at the expense of the middle class.

isn't using the tax code to redistribute money upwards awesome? we need to make the yellow bigger!

As I said I doesn't really bother me if we increase the tax on the rich, what bothers me is why we're doing it. Obama keeps saying we need more cops, teachers, and firefighters. I for one know we don't need more cops, I have not seen nor heard once that we have a shortage of teachers or firefighters and I can't fathom how this would boost the economy. This to me is spending money for union votes (I know I know that's how it is but I still don't like it either side). So far if you're are a government employee or a union worker(or both) this all sounds really nice but what about the rest of the nation? Our government has shown us it's incompetent, what I can't understand why (democrat or republican) we want to keep throwing money at it. They get around 27billion a month, before they play with interest and make it more, that's strait out of our pockets.....do they really need more to do stupid shit with? While they sound like this is all for a good cause, it just going to fund another three ring circus and while it may create a few jobs once done its hard as hell to undo.

Only little socialist bitches think it's the governments money in the first place to redistribute.
Government doesn't make the money, private individuals do, and you believe taking less of their money is somehow distributing it back to them!

Go make your own money ya lazy turd, quit worrying about what other people make.
You've admitting not working for a long time, you don't have skin in the game anyway, if you aren't paying taxes you really need to STFU.

We need to raise federal income taxes for more cops, teachers and firefighters!
Cops, teachers and fire fighters are paid through local and state taxes, not federal, Obama's a fucking liar.

I assume his plan is to give the money to the states for that reason, but I already pay a shitload of taxes on my home for this already....but he wants more than the state can afford.

your reply, while full of self righteous anger, insults, and general douchery in the form of internet ESP, contains very little substance. i'll go ahead and humor the angry little guy anyway

Only little socialist bitches think it's the governments money in the first place to redistribute.
oh noes! socialists! :cuss:

not a socialist, and not saying it's the government's money to begin with. so you start off on a false premise. fail.

but government is in the business of taxing people to fund the functions of government and provide for defense and general welfare. so as long as they're redistributing it, i want to make sure it is not redistributed in such a way that makes us vlnerable to a plutocracy, which is where we're headed and quickly.

Government doesn't make the money, private individuals do, and you believe taking less of their money is somehow distributing it back to them!
government does not make the money, but it does provide for an environment in which the money can be made. unless you think walmart will do well in somalia, fending off raids from the local warlords all by themselves. that would really eat into their bottom line more so than taxes do.

Go make your own money ya lazy turd, quit worrying about what other people make.
that's exactly what i do. and i'm not worried about what other people make, i'm concerned about the practical consequences of the tax code are. the practical consequence of trickle down has been burgeoning income inequality at levels not seen since right before the depression while wages remain stagnant for the middle class despite increased productivity.

You've admitting not working for a long time, you don't have skin in the game anyway, if you aren't paying taxes you really need to STFU.
i paid several hundred dollars to the state last year, thank you very much mr. internet psychic. got all my money back from the fed and even got a nifty little refund thanks to the earned income tax credit.

but that argument boils down to the same as "if you don't like america you can get out!" :cuss: and that's plain stupid.

the first amendment gives me every right to tell you how much of an idiot you are for continuing to preach the successes of trickle down, and there ain't shit your angry little cold war fighting ass can do about it.

god bless america.

Trust you? OK sure, I always get in vans with strangers who have candy.
Don't twist it you know what I meant, you will have a damn hard time convincing anyone we need more cops. I have not heard once on any news source that teachers and firefighters are in demand.
