How to be a polite pothead/ what are your rules?

Hi everyone! I am new to this site, but I think it's fantastic. I am currently having a love affair with weed, I want to learn more about it, and maybe someday grow my own. What I want to know is....
Well, I am fairly new to the world of pot and I don't want to break any rules, or look like an idiot. I have a dealer I trust, but I don't think his weed is that good ($60 for 1/4). I want to look for better stuff without offending him.
Also, I want to know what are common newbie mistakes when it comes to buying weed.
I know a few things: Don't lick other people's baggies, don't be an obvious idiot. I want to know more, i want to sink into this culture and not look new.

Well... for the good stuff I pay $60 for 1/8.... $120 for 1/4. For regular commercial grown I pay $40 1/8 and $80 for a 1/4 so it sounds to me like you are getting a fair deal (if the weights are correct).

Now there will be others who will come along and tell you that you are getting ripped off. I wouldn't listen to them because you aren't. Some people have the killer hook-up ... and some people simply don't understand fractions.

Here's the thing... dealers are out to make money... plain and simple! They can't make it by selling an ounce for $50 (like some people here report they get). There is risk..... BIG risk in being a dealer so you have to consider the time and effort it takes for them to establish their trusted connection... and then run around to buy it... and then run around to sell it. Also.. consider where you live. It's going to cost more in some areas because the supply may not be abundant.

Now... regarding the "better smoke".... you simply ask your dealer "what strain is this?" and "Do you have any others?" Your dealer may have better strains but thinking since you are new to smoking are simply interested in the cheapest. Be prepared to pay more for the good stuff! If your dealer doesn't sell anything else you do NOT have to tell him/her that you are going to look elsewhere. No need to burn a bridge...buy from that dealer and eventually you'll find someone with better... or even better... you'll grow your own.

Lastly... regarding etiquette ... well there's lots of things...a few that come to mind are:

When sharing a joint... don't "wet lip" it.. and for gawwds sake... don't get lipstick and/or lip gloss on it.

When smoking from a one hit bong with someone else... finish your hit and clear the bong smoke.... no one wants your leftover smoke and ash.

Was smokin with some friends the other day and there was this chick who was new to weed I think and she was drunk as well, the pipe came her way and she would hit it, talk, talk, talk hit it and then pass it, unfortunately I was in line after her. This is considered extremely shabby among most stoners. This can be a bit of a gray area though, different people say yeah take a couple tokes and pass it on, others say one toke and pass it on but always remember DON'T HOLD ONTO THE SMOKE AND LEAVE PEOPLE WAITING! The passing of the pipe or joint or whatever has an almost spiritual vibe to it and if you break the rythm of the ritual it's bad Karma!

Dealing is a business....So is purchasing... I play in a band with my special friend..nuge nuge wink wink anyway I'm going with someone I met here at RIU...He's got purty stuff.
Unless the guys paying you, go where you want. Alot of times dealers catch the drift when all their customers go elsewhere and get better reefer...Never feel bad about maximizing your buzz to weed ratio

ROFL!!! I have a BAD HABIT of doing the same when I've been drinking. I usually only smoke with my sister... and she's not afraid to just tell me... "Bitch.. hit that thing or pass it on!"

LOL!!! I smoke... but I've never been able to handle a lot... I'm one of those people that does one or two hits MAX... then I'm done. Unless it's shitty weed... in which case it's almost not even worth it to smoke. Sure... when I was younger I'd smoke the hell out of average weed... and end up with a mediocre high and a headache later. The older I get ... the less I'm willing to waste my time smoking lame weed. ..... Just one more reason to grow my own.... With the help and advice of everyone here of course :mrgreen:

Gaia, the most important thing to learn, in my opinion, is to NOT talk to too many people about what you're doing and with whom. Do not bring a buddy with you when you make your purchases, don't give out phone numbers unless everyone is in agreement.
If you're smoking fatty-McFatties, don't get that thing all wet with spit, I don't want to fucking TOUCH it after it's all wet with somebody else's spit. :x Be ready to kick down with some of your own, don't be a mooch all the time.

Other than that, it's a free (black) market, so you can purchase from whomever you wish. And, if you're laughing and fart just fess up. ;)

don't bogart the joint, and i never seen a dealer get pissed because you said you could do better. they know what they have. the ones that deliver, i always buy wether it's a fair price or not.

Also don't be an asshole and build one of those fucking ultra flame lighters and not warn someone. I'm kinda attached to my eyebrows and eyelashes, and don't like losing them for trying to get high.

with my friends if passing a joint the rules are puff puff pass but its not a strict rule so sometimes its puff puff puff!!! pass that bitch mother fucker. lol
