AdvancedNewbie, I have looked into getting something similar to a Cree mc-e module with 4x3w dies built into on led in parallel. My next design (if funds and time permits) will have an arduino UNO with LCD and function keys and a D15 socket that will allow me to:

- Set lighting schedule
- monitor and control PH
- adjust light spectrum accordingly (flower/veg/clone)
- regulate and control ventilation
- supply water + nutrients (I can't think of a cheap way of doing this though)
- supply diagnostic 2.4ghz data to a leostick USB arduino board dongle.

I know I am pigeon holing myself by building this into the actual light itself but if I pull it off I can remake it as a standalone system.
Now THIS is something I would buy in a heart beat^^^^^seriously..........you got skills

Check out my sig link, it's a similar project that I'm working on, but the arduino is in a box with 6 120V outlets, and the sensors can be 'plugged' into the box.

Arduino + LED + Cannabis= Win Win Win! Imagine in the future when color changing LEDs are powerful enough for growing and your grow will be programmed to mimic the light conditions of let's say an Afghani region for growing Hash plants or Hawaii for that Maui Wowi you always wanted to smoke. An Arduino system can easily control all aspects of the grow, including climate right now. It's really up to someone with the time and money to make it happen. Did you see those LED ceiling lights that mimic cloud patterns on the ceiling of your room? Imagine having that in your grow room?

Anyway Slixx, I'm totally digging your panel and ideas. Does this help for watering?

Looks like something that's pretty hackable or at least easily controlled by an Arduino system. Good Luck and Happy Growing!

Probably could be done but i HATE! SMD boards. hehe.

Because my setup is aero I was thinking of combing 4 micro DC pumps controlled by mosfets directly from the arduino board. and have 4 small reservoirs: PH UP, PH Down, Part A, Part B.
Currently in my aero setup the res is exactly 25 litres. which, fortunately means i can lower my PH by 0.1 exactly with a single drop of concentrated solution.

Its alot of space consumption in my homemade cab but I may be able to make it work.
This weekend I will buy some opamps and trimpots to control my PH in the res. Figure i'll start there.

Heres some pics of the full setup:

cab closed, cab open, lights on! - Can you spot the clone box???

heres some pics of my clone box, the light inside as 1 x cree mc-e 6500K white and 2 x cree XP-G 6500K white:

Hahahha...Well i have my eye as a avatar...so its kind of expected.! :D Anyways i've been 'watching' alot of the LED progress around these parts. And im pretty stoked and breathing a 'psy' of relief about the DIY evolution that is happening. I reckon that alot of these LED manufacturers are creaming it, but im not the 1st to say that. (sorry about the crap puns) :D

Thanks mate, it's day 2 in the main cab with my new design. Only took 4 days for the seeds to root in the germ/clone led cab! That's a new record for me. I can see minuscule growth in 24 hrs. Temps at 25.6c @ 42% humidity. Ph is at 5.8 (no nutes yet), light is on 18hrs and I'm just waiting for veg to begin :)

I'll throw me up from this morn but I'm getting rid of the rig immediately. It's cold where I am and while I can maintain a good temp I have to sacrifice external ventilation. The wife and I in the last 2 days have had dry throats and I even tasted blood :/. I can't move her elsewhere in my share house so I have to sleep in the same room with the cab. I tell ya what though my roomies have no clue after 4 cycles ;) the new stupidly bright purple light made it hard to conceal with this light though. I check my PH at 5:45am every morning.

Will resume again when venting improves.

Ok so I couldn't help myself I left her on still and thoroughly cleaned the room. Unusual whitish dust everywhere! I am nervous that it is rockwool dust so I've almost buried the cubes in hydroton to keep them wet. Still no pics yet as I'm sending replies off the phone ATM. Will update shortly.

Very nice diy panels there Slixxor and your not alone in thinking about
where this should go in the near future, I see that FranJan has seen the light too ;-)

6 months ago I was playing with an Arduino and a 320x240 LCD display, got it working just
fine, but I could not find any use for it, but it got me thinking when I got my LED grow light.

Some days ago i made a mock-up of a extended LED Grow light controller with a LCD screen
and what I thought of could be interesting stuff to display and control.

I could be a integrated controller in the LED grow lamp itself or it could be a program on a PC
controling through USB interface or an Apps on Ipad / android tablet using wifi and putting your lights online,
-display the stats of your grow on a mobile device while away from your grow would be super cool.
And off course a web-cam picture from the grow would do wonders too.

My mock-up with a grow scheduled,,,

I also came across this cheap fan controller with LCD display and 4 temperature sensors, that would look cool in a DIY project.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AeroCool-V12XT-4-Channel-LCD-Touch-Panel-Case-Fan-Controller-/180803690841?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item2a18bd6159

And the reason I was looking into this was be course I have modded my grow light with a fan regulator and a temperature display/heat-sink sensor,
maybe I should make a thread showing how I did that, if anyone else have one of those cheap e-bay 120W(90W actual) grow light with noisy fans not bing controlled by temperature.

Nice one! Good to see another micro programmer. Seems there's ALOT of Cluey people on RIU.

Temp control would reduce power consumption slightly which is always a plus. Arduino system have plug n play temp control sensors and the 328 atmel has PWM outputs for regulating fan speed.

I have decided to build a 100 x 3w version (14 x 7 LEDs) and make my own drivers this time that will allow me to control spectrum and brightness. Because my cab is for veg and flower I was considering adding 6-8 x 10,000K whites across the middle which suit veg and seedling and run them on their own controller so I can isolate a low wattage solution for rearing clones or seeds. In my 150w light I had switchable spectrums and I discovered if I switch off the 630nm LEDs (60% of the reds) during veg the girls stayed very short and extremely bushy. In 1 case I had a topped girl @ 1ft tall with fan leaves 6" long! Similar to that of a 6500K cfl. That's perfect for those of us who like to shape their girls to suit the size of the grow space. Not to mention considerably decreasing veg time with massive fan leaves to soak up the light.

If anyone has read my 150w watt thread a user posted information about flashing IR 950nm for 1 hr in the middle of the light cycle during flower to increase yield so I may add 2-6 950nm LEDs on their own controller to see if it works. That being said does anyone think this is a good idea?
