When fines aren't paid, warrants are generally issued.
depends if it is a criminal or non-criminal penalty now, doesn't it?

why does NO ONE cite the legislation itself? why is everyone too chicken shit to cite the actual legislation?

jesus christ, what a bunch of pussies, all of you.

If you don't pay a fine it is the same as missing a summons.

lol, good old state rights....

Although the U.S. abolished debtors' prisons in the 1830s, more than a third of U.S. states allow the police to haul people in who don't pay all manner of debts, from bills for health care services to credit card and auto loans.
Switching topics are we?

that all depends on whether or not it is a criminal or non-criminal penalty for non-payment of said fine, now doesn't it?

c'mon, one of you guys must have access to the interwebs and be able to tell me what the fine is, right?

by quoting from the article you posted?

that would be YOU switching topics.

you want to do us all a favor and look up the penalty already so i can stop mocking all these ronbot kiddos?
Topic switching, whether quoting an article posted to do so or not, is still topic switching imo.

Why don't you quote and teach us on what the penalties for non-payment are?

Last I read there was no specific amount outlined in the failed healthcare policy. I could be wrong though.

You are hanging on to someone defining penalties for the failed healthcare policy ignoring all other factors brought to light.

Your libertarian philosophy allows for the acceptance of forcing people to buy a service they don't want, you are such a failure.

you were the one who brought up debtor's prison, blame yourself for the topic switching.

hint: there is no penalty for non-payment. it's one of the best kept secrets about the bill. if you watched o'donnell you would know this.

The Joint Committee on Taxation's states:
The penalty applies to any period the individual does not maintain minimum essential coverage and is determined monthly. The penalty is assessed through the Code and accounted for as an additional amount of Federal tax owed. However, it is not subject to the enforcement provisions of subtitle F of the Code. The use of liens and seizures otherwise authorized for collection of taxes does not apply to the collection of this penalty. Non-compliance with the personal responsibility requirement to have health coverage is not subject to criminal or civil penalties under the Code and interest does not accrue for failure to pay such assessments in a timely manner.

people may not want health insurance, but everyone will inevitably need health care.

i'm a proponent of looking at successful models and emulating them, that's what i do for everything from swinging a golf club to growing a plant. and every single successful universal model includes a personal mandate.

sorry to disappoint you, that's just how insurance works, ronbot kiddo.
