something is digging up my girls and eating the slow release fertilizer???

i jumped the gun this season and planted wayy too early...like before the last frost early!.. but my plants stayed strong and are lookn good..but when i went to check up the other day i found deer tracks and something maby the deer? is digging up my girls and eating the fertilizer?? WTF? this happened 4 dayz after i sprayed about a gallon of my own piss around my patch in a garden sprayer.....so i took some blood meal and sprinkled around all 12 of them!....will this keep the fukn deer or whatever away from getting into the slow release fertilizer???...has anyone had this problem before??? last year in a whole different area this happened and i had to drag a baby dead deer out of my guerilla patch into a field.....this only happens the first couple weeks into the season then its all good from there on out....

o you have them growing in any kind of root protection , like a raised bed with chicken mesh at the bottom or a hole ?

no...just the native soil, its between two valleys where there used to be a river waaayyyy back in the day... the soil is old river loam and is filled with worms and drains pretty decent....

when i was growing on the mainland I used irish sprig soap just shave it into small pieces and scater it around the primiter a litthe away from ur plants also yes urin helps and ive even left old shirts that ive worn an sweated in also old dirty socks, human hair from a barbershop. all those oders are alarming to deer and they avoid them. hope that helps. oh the reason they are digging up the fret, is the salts in it u may also try puttin a salt lick in away from ur grow to draw them to a better source of salts. Ive used just plain old rock salt like they sell for melting ice , it has to be Salt and not the other crap. just dig a shallow hole pour in salt and cover w a little dirt.

ive herd a few people talk about irish spring soap now!!....i will give it a try 4 shure! im gonna put some pieces in some old black socks and hang them in the brier patches around my spot tomorrow......and that does make sense about the salt....i wonder if after a couple of rains if the fertilizer looses its scent and is not soo tempting for deer???

that sounds good. you can also look in to extremely hot peppers . you can boil them slowly and use the strained solution to make pesticide. even deer don't like the smell. and some of the peppers like the ghost pepper will do some serious damage to any nose that gets near it

get chicken wire and make round towers about 1 foot round. 2 feet tall. like a tomatoe cage they last for yrs. iun roll and dig a hole and buryy them all in hole at the end of the season.

well the chemicals in pepper are ment to break down after a few weeks , and there not harmful to the human being . well unless its in your eyes or your sinuses , but you can put around too. but you have to do it like evry 3 days cuz it breaks down fast

i am not sure it is deer...should be enough native plants going for deer to not have to dig.......foxes and skunks and raccoon all like to dig...soap contains fat that attracts rats and mice.... would the salt attract deer? deer love salt

Sounds like your gonna need a fence. Some spots are just more prone than others to get plants eaten. It all comes down to the amount of food choices in the area. I've grown in some spots without a single pest throughout the season, and others I've had my plants dug out by my second visit.

Ive been thru this before that wont work , none of above works you must build a fence made of chicken wire ,fence poles(logs) post holes, peg fence down and wire up to sawn trees if any sag, its not rocket science the fence blocks the animals.
