Wait people actually use bleach in the res? how could that possibly help the plant?
It helps prevent colonies of bacilli and fungi from forming on your roots which in turn helps prevent infections and in Layman's terms, clogging up your roots ability to intake water and nutrients. Hydrogen peroxide is an organic oxidizer so care must be taken that you do not overdose or you will cook your roots let alone sterilize your system.

If you are asking how much bleach to bring your ph down, don't use bleach go buy a big bottle of ph down, it costs like 5 bucks and will last 100 gallons, with directions on the bottle for how much to add.

If your asking about the bleach for the cleaner water/roots it seems the thread has come to the consensus that bleach is not the way to go. However Hydrogen peroxide works great. I tried it, and within 2 days my roots where already turning whiter, they had been fairly slimy and brown. I am convinced, and will be using it every res change from now on. I used 1 tbl or 15 ml per gallon. But I was using the 3% house hold brand. If you are using the 35% kind it is somewhere between 2-4 ml per gallon.

Isnt ph down like 30 bucks for the big bottle? i buy the gallon jug of vinegar and it works pretty well. although it does seem to have a poor buffer preventing it from bouncing back. (hydro) i am also aware that rockwool brings up the ph.

With h2o2 as a cleaner, how many times would you use it a week.

Although this is ok! Its a bit overkill, you can lesson it to every three days with the same results.
I was under the impression that you add it to your res when you change the water, i change the water every 2 weeks, new water, new nuts, and now, new h2o2, are you suggesting I put it in more than that, and add the h2o2 every 3 days??

hey all, i add h202 to my 100 litre res at 1ml per litre when re-filling the res. i also add 1ml per litre halfway between water changes. works like a charm and will keep roots super healthy

I just ordered 35% food grade H2O2 from Garden of Eden. My roots are stained a dark brown. I don't have rot or slime and the water smells fine. I'll let you know if it whitens them at all.

Hey, im a newbie to this forum but I've been using this site for years and it's very helpful...thanks to everyone posting. Hydrogen peroxide is something I always use for it's overall antibacterial properties and oxygenative properties. I've used it in soiless and aero setups with great results. Some items u can go without but I don't believe this should be left out unless using organic nutes as mentioned. I use the 20-30% solution for best results. I only use 0.5 ml per liter...be careful not to spill on your skin!
