Chief you are older than dirt itself if you remember that rag. "Sensimilla Tips" LOL I found an old issue on fleabay that I just might buy for shits and giggles. Sure was primitive wasn't it but what has changed...! Funny how well weed grew back then even without Fox Farms and the like.
:leaf:
Bubblicious was just put into a new comp folder as one worthy of trying and I will. Your right really about $7.00 versus $15.00. When it comes down to it once you have a basic set-up that works seeds become pretty much the only cost. I have NO interest in breaking the cost per gram down when I'm finished. My yield will be good and it's been a blast. I'm at seven weeks and figure to have two more before I can chop my four Master Kush.

I'll peak at the tude again with an eye toward the FIRST WEEKEND OF THE MONTH. I don't mind registering to get a decent heads up. In 1982 I was growing Northern Lights, Skunk #1, Swazi, and a Hash plant. I wonder if they are still available. LOL. Come to think of it I can't say I've seen the Swazi around but it has to still be out there.

Shake it easy budski!:D Oh yeah.. Just curious how long you figure weed seeds to be viable?
Cant say I remember swazi, but I planted a seed that was about 2-3years old once and it grew into something beautiful, didn't know the strain as it was bagseed, but not interested in breaking mine down either but the peeps who I used to buy from didn't mind breaking it down for me, thats why I got tired of it and took it upon myself to provide for myself:leaf:

Ha shake it easy LMFAO

Hey now guys....you can't be THAT OLD!!! My Dad was growing in 1977 in our backyard in the middle of Boston. He had over 100 acapulco gold plants almost ripe, about 10 weeks into flower. The way he tells it is that in the middle of the night, my Mom (his future Mrs.) snuck into his yard with 4 of her girlfriends....cut it ALL down, packed it in trash bags and took off. My Mom didn't tell him it was her until 14 years later.....IMAGINE THAT!!!!! He still mentions it to her monthly...HAHAHA! So you guys know what a coconut is then right? No one my age had EVER heard of it.

catt. I remember buying acapulco gold in 1976. They were calling it bicentennial weed in the asking price was $19.76. They say potency has increased dramatically since the seventy's but that shit was killer. OK catt wtf is a coconut. If it's weed related I must know what it is but probably under a different name. Chief.... I have had 3 year old seeds germinate and grow just fine. That was a long time ago and I don't remember the germination rate. Swazi??? I wonder if I am remembering it wrong. I can't find my log books for those years but I think it was a sativa that did just not have enough time to finish in the connecticut river valley. That flood plain soil was so sweet I could stick my arm in right to the shoulder and not even find a pebble. Where I am now I get more rocks than dirt out of a hole and need a pry bar. I'm VERY happy that I prepped a lot of holes last fall. I got the hard part done!!! I get my weed from a pal who is 70 YO which is older than me and pay $50.00 or $60.00 a 1/4. It's usually just decent commercial weed but the price is right. I did buy an eighth of fancy stuff a few weeks back and paid $75.00. It was pretty good but the price leaves a bad taste in my mouth. You ain't kidding chief about your peeps figuring the cost per gram. I prefer to get kissed before I get fucked. I think I will go sign up with the tude chief and see what the FIRST WEEKEND OF THE MONTH brings. I do want to try a little auto flowering just to check it out but bubbliscious will get a hole somewhere. Rock on my friends. Got the day off and the house is empty so it's time to fondle not only my plants but myself. Posting using my phone is tough. Oops,

Come on chief.. What's a freakin coconut?? catt went with singular versus plural so that rules me out. Maybe it was one of those little cans you put a joint in and squeezed and it gave you a "shotgun"? I forget what we called those.
:dunce:
I googled "SWAZI" which appears to be a landrace variety of Sativa from yes, "Swaziland". Catalog says it's a one pound yielder with good potency that grows to THREE meters. I would like a 13 foot plant. If I was going to do any serious breeding it might be a good place to start but alas it's to stinkin complicated in the burbs of Boston. Now if I could turn over my 40ft by 40ft full sun veggy garden into just weed the things I could do!!! I guess the fact "Swazi" is a pure south african strain of Sativa explains why it never finished in the western part of this state. I must not have known that in early 1980"s.
:wall:
What I would really like is to just be able to buy pollen from from any strain you wanted. It seems to me that there would be a market for male pollen out there but no one has done it. Shit they sell us everything else so sell me some little envelopes of pollen and I can take a breeding shortcut to where I don't know. Someone should start marketing pollen from Landrace varieties. It would have to make money, every thing else weed related makes someone a millionare. $$$$$$

So here we are RIU amigos this is the last week of veg the big flip is today ;) I added my side light in the middle of the week which during THE STRETCH the light will slowly be raised to a vertical position, and the plants will be rotated 1/4 every day so everything gets a piece of the action, as always shoot me questions if you have them, and comments appreciated.:leaf:

Rotted that would be genius to sell strain specific pollen:bigjoint:, you may have made yourself a lot of money if you would market that, damn thats great though.

I wish I could rep you but i must spread the love it says.

you've got something going there Rotted with the pollen. Coconut.....you take all your roaches (the more the merrier) but I'd say use a minimum of 20 . You stick em all together the best you can, wetting your fingers a little if you need to (pack as tight as you can). Then....once you have this nasty ball of sticky blackness you wrap the ball up in a slow burning paper (ez wider slow burning are the only kind I'll use). Once you ball is packed as tight as you can and your paper is wrapped around it you wrap it up in a few layers of foil. You poke the ball with a pin and heat it slowly with a lighter. It should take about 10 min of heating the foil evenly....twisting your ball around to get all areas nice and toasty. Let it cool for as long as you can....The longer the better, I usually wait until the next day. Then you unwrap your tin foil and you should have what looks like a coconut. I like to use a nice clean glass.....poke your coconut with a pin....light it up and put it under the glass....fill glass with smoke....suck it all in! If done correctly it should burn for a really long time depending in the size of your coconut. It's great if you want to get totally wacked or if your at a party or something. I'll make one for my Dad and I and it will burn for HOURS!!!!

catt I have enough doomsday roaches to build myself a coconut!! Back when I could get it smoking hash under glass was my favorite way to burn it. What are you talking?? A 1/2 inch nut or bigger? Burn for hours.... That sound pretty damm cool!
:leaf:
Chief your plants look great and ready for the flip. Just curious if you think the plastic surrounding that big ass bulb keeps any usable light from the girls. I wish I had flipped my lights a week or maybe even two earlier but I was thinking greadily. I figured the more I vegged the bigger my yield. I did not use any bloom nutes for a week after switching over only because someone suggested it. In hindsight I don't think it mattered. I do like how aggressively you pinned those babies down. I pinned mine down hard but used no strings. I really found it gave me a lot of tops and you can make a branch go anywhere you want.
:leaf::D
I have brought up the idea of selling pollen a couple of times and your posts are the only ones that think it might be an OK idea. Folks seem to think the seed companies would
not want to give away proprietary info but I figure they give that chit out everytime they sell a pack of regular seeds. I say we buy a dozen good landrace strains for starters and offer them to prospective breeders.

I think this is the last pic prior to going 12/12. I could have vegged a little less but wth.]

Roots as far as the bottle it may block a bit of usable light but with me being able to put a light the big/w bottle literally in the bush in won't matter, I looked at my undergrowth with that light on and man its just as bright underneath as it is on top of the canopy, and yeah I stayed hands on with them a lot but I always made sure they could handle it I would always see how fast they react to me picking at them and these two ladies where some of the strongest two I ever dealt with:bigjoint:, and yeah they are ready and my goal with them was to have nothing but tops which I accomplished so I'm happy with them, now we are in the fun part, as far as the pollen man dont let anyone tell you that, thats not a great idea I wish we could go into biz together, I would be right there with you on that great idea man.

P.S. that first pic looks like a 4 way lst, and the next one looks like a norm LST, but I can see they are the same plant weird, but beautiful.

hey rotted, yeah I've made many coconuts in my time. And yes....burns for hrs with about a 1" round coconut (just like hash). I hope I have enough leaves to make hash.....god I haven't smoked hash since I was 17. Too bad we couldn't get all our leaves together and make some killer hash....I think I said that once before...lol! In a perfect world we would be able to ;)

I love looking at your old pics....I remember when she was that small ;)

Chief, dude! Am I seeing that correctly that the plastic bottle lets you get the light right up to the leaves, but w/o them growing into/burning themselves? That is so pimp. I have learned a lot from your LST techniques, definitely glad I am keeping up with this one.
