The Irish Growers Thread!

Alright lads, Am going to try my hand at cloning my R.D. and already i think i have done a newbie mistake. I went up to the grow shop at lunch time and got my clonex but i also got root it proagation tray and base with stonewool plugs but just after noticing that they have hydroponics....can use these for soil???? will put a pic up.
 
cheers jay. was worried there for a bit. any tips for me jay. havent a clue. i dont have a lid for propagator. was just gonna make some sort of box with clingfilm or something. any ideas.
 
Get a propagator sorted before you start lobbing clones off your plant mate. You need high humidity with clones.

I have a question also lads. I have a bag seed going. Can i stick it in to flower to see if its female, then at the first signs if it is a she, can i stick it back in to veg?
 
cheers irish. took your advise and the missus is picking up a propagator tomorrow. just have to look for a cheap heat mat now. planning on taking 2 clones on saturday. am doing a scrog. should i top and take from the top or take them from the bottom. they will be over 4 weeks old on saturday

When it gets to about 10 nodes it'll preflower and you'll know it's sex.

If your cloning indoors you wont need a heated prpagator, I use a upside down see through storage box, works a treat..
however if you've got a heated propagator it will make life easier.
Take clones from the bottom of the plant as these will root easier than ones from the top.
Once cuttings are taken don't blast them with too much light, I use a 23w cfl, keep the humidity dome moist for the first few days also nice and warm, I use the hot press, I did use heating cable but they broke soon after, cut some of the bigger leafs on your clone in half to save energy for your clone. Don't use any grow feed or sea weed on clones unless they have fully rooted and being repotted.
 
Paper cups are good for cloning too, fill them with moist soil, use a chopstick or something to make a hole in the centre, whack your dipped clone in it then tape a sandwidge bag on top of the cup. Obviously only good for small scale tho, but from stuff around the house ;)
 
Thanks for the advice guys...:)...Was watching videos till late in the night last night and if i really want this to work i think the prop and the heat mat are the way forward for best results. I dont think i would bother with the heat mat if i were doing say 10-15 clones because would only be expecting a 1/4 odd to survive but since i am only gonna do a few i would the best possible start, lol this leads me to my other Q. I am going to be leave the prop in the tent under the 600 hps, now before you start shouting at your computer for me to STOP, they will be above 3-4 foot away and under the sshade of the mother. do you think they will be ok???

You have little faith my friend, If you were to get a heated propagator, you should have at least 80% survival rate, I wouldn't recommend putting brand new clones under HID lights, not for a couple of days anyway...

Also, I know you've bought those cloning blocks, but some useful info for others, do not use seedling or cloning soil from garden centres as this inhibits the roots and the clones dont like.... That what Ive read anyway..
 
I buy all my seeds from http://original-ssc.com/ 3 free seeds with every order, 5 free over 50euro and 7 free over 100. They send free photo seeds but as i'm currently only doing auto's i asked them would they send
auto's instead cause i only do auto's and they did. They also send a free pack of big skins and roche book. Fairly cheap too and deliver within a week in plain brown envelope.

I don't know exactly, it's a john doe, bought along with a nice t-shirt from Spain. The seed was a bonus. And now...this grew out of it DSCF2329.jpgDSCF2330.jpgRotation of DSCF2325.jpgRotation of DSCF2326.jpg she is day 84 with 35 into flowering. Had some problems with her...still have, hope she'll make it.
 
welcome! This your first grow? Im on my 3rd and loving it as a hobby, the smoke is just a huge bonus! :)

am in ireland been growing a few years, ive got 3 afghan kush x black domina in flower at the min and ive just popped 3 more seeds of northen lights x big bud and a white rhino x mazar and an afghan kush landrace all female seeds from herbies breeder is world of seeds, i am a small scale grower for my own use only and working with a small wardobe with 250w mh/hps and another wardobe for 2-3 weeks of starting seeds with a 125w cfl, id upload pics but dont have a camera if anyone knows a cheap place to buy a cheap camera around 10 bucks am all ears
 
looks good perkele you should try and get a hps they will thank you for it

Kango420 check out adverts.ie lots of 2nd camera for sale, thats where i got mine
