All I can tell you is that I know what the shortfalls are with Led panels at the moment, however to answer your question, the leds from just a couple of years ago were just not powerful enough to produce anything of real worth. Some led panels today are using tri, quad, or even 11 bands. My design will target all the optimum bands, incidentally it is 8 bands specifically for growing Cannabis. less is a shortfall and more is just wasted energy, unless used for growing Marine algae. I have also 25 years of electronics experience as well as my 15 years of growing. I promise the design is perfected, especially for flowering. Like I said, this will all be under way in the new year with the first light and a complete grow journal. P.s. Prices will also be very very goodmaxpesh can you tell me how much better leds are now then they were a few years ago?? I have a friend that bought one (no idea from where) it tried it in his flower room and got what we all call "pop corn" buds. He moved it to his veg room and it's doing great. Of course we all want bigger plants with less power / heat but from the past the leds just did not produce. Do you have any pics of finished product with leds that produce? thanks
One watt diodes run at (for example) 0.8 watts for red and about 1.2 for blue. 3 watts run at on average 1.6-2.2 watts so they tend to have a relief on work load and temperature, which equates to longer life WITH correct heat dissipation. Hence the difference in claimed watts as opposed to actual watts drawn. The reason they run at a lower watt consumption has everything to do with efficiency. For the moment I wish to stay away from the 5 watts as the conversion rate for electricity used to the amount of light output is too low for my purposes, however that is sure to change in the near future as the efficiency of Led's is now exponential ( a bit like computer development over the last 20 years or so).the key to LED = Spectrum + High Wattage Diodes(5-6watters out now)
Been doing loads of research for the last 2 years, so here's the thing ! Would anyone be interested in a new LED company AFTER the new year because I have been growing for about 15 years now and all this stuff about leds seems to be about greedy business persons jumping on the band wagon and to be honest it would seem to me that nearly all of them haven't done a lot of learning, they just want to make a fast BIG profit rather than making a small amount but producing a great product in order to sell more volume. I certainly won't spam any company on these forums once I get started up but now I have designed the light I will be doing a full grow to prove my results, and btw I will be doing them as ACTUAL POWER DRAW. I just see so many people getting ripped by the so called "better" lights and shortfalls of the "cheaper" ones that it has inspired me to take the leap into this business, oh and they will be 3 yrs guarantee. Please be aware once again I am not going to spam or hijack anyone's thread or try to advertise the name of my company on here. Just wanted your thoughts. Also I do not wish to get into any arguments with any other led business owners on here as there is enough bickering goes on in the forums anyway. I want to converse and move forward with real growers both experienced and new alike to cultivate better ideas.
I can honestly say that I expect this light to realistically replace a 600 watt hps, but in a one meter square (10 square feet) grow tent we would normally use about 400 watts of hps not a 1000. Also I will be providing written grow techniques with each light as they somewhat differ to growing with HID. The whole point with LED is to get a many bud sites as possible in a reduced area and as little heat as possible so as to cut down on the amount of heat extraction thereby a reduction in electricity used . I am just trying to work out my costs at the moment, it is worth mentioning that this light will veg exceptionally well. but ! My main objective is the blooming stage as this is where the real value is and seems to be where a lot of led's have gained an unnecessary bad reputation, I do hope that changes soon and I will do my utmost best to alter this mindset.I am interested as well!!! My only concern is buying / using and not getting the same results as my 1000 watt I have now. Can you honestly tell me I will get the same amount (weight) and resin production as my 1000 watt bulb? I grow in a tent / hydro with approx 15 plants and get about a pound and a half.
Many thanks for your kind words, but I sense that I am going to upset a lot of other sellers on the WWW. I will keep in touchIm interested and admire your ambition. Good luck, let me know when you have a couple units built...i'll gladly test one for you.
Many thanks for your encouragement, we will of course keep in touch, very happy to take all advice. I am very excited to be in a position soon to be able to undertake this venture and give a great product at a great price, I have a strange feeling that I am meant to do this and offer fair competition. Also you make an astute point that LED is the future but I would say led CAN be the future if approached from a growers desires ! Peace to allMaxpesh,
I like what your saying! I'm just starting out as a grower and will be starting using LED's. LED is the future of lighting and grow lighting. I would love to hear more about your product and help you out in any way I can. I'm a marketing guy by day so I would be happy to help you spread the word if your product actually lives up the what your saying. Better light + Better price = Winning
Yes the extra 3 bands are for growing Marine Algea. My design is specifically for cannabis in the par range which happens to be the same as a tomato plant but with the added bonus of the needs of resinous plants also targeting areas outside the range of normal PAR which none of the other sellers have taken into account and this is one of the reasons LED's have have had a shortfall in the last few years. Keep watching P.S not talking about just UV eitherIm using the 11 band company and my results are awesome! At least they are different from the rest and rate at just a little over the actual draw. My 300w unit draws 265 watts and costs $800. But I am liking what Ive read. I was thinking 11 bands may be a little too many and 8 sounds much better and 3 or 5 bands dont have the "Important" spectrums. The biggest, "densest" buds Ive grown have been with LED, so I know the technology is there if you use the right spectrums. Ive grown bigger with hps, but not nearly as dense. I would love to learn more about your LED! Im all for anyone wanting to HELP the industry and not just make a profit. Good job man! Im more than interested!
When you say cover 9 square feet "aprox" do you mean you can flower a 9 sq ft area or veg?@albsure. Without going into too much detail. My specs for the light, actual power draw will pull between 220 - 240 watts (other companies would probably advertise this as a 400watt led). will cover approx 9 square feet and will replace any HPS bulb that you would use in a grow tent of this size. Also resin production should be huge. I am going to keep the prices as low as I can. The build quality will be of the highest order too, proper finned heatsinks, not just a flat aluminium plate so the lifespan should extent to the led manufacturers maximum expectations.
Hi, it will cover a 3ft x 3ft grow tent for floweringWhen you say cover 9 square feet "aprox" do you mean you can flower a 9 sq ft area or veg?
This all sounds great! I'm looking forward to hearing more info as it comes along. I will hold off on my next round of purchases till you get back to us
