you can do it there or the next node up...its up to you...you'll have to top the two tops that come up after this topping to make your 4 tops...I think I'll go top off my nicotine now... :D

That'll leave you with 4 side branches and two main colas. To get 4 main colas you need to top, then top the resulting two shoots. You can even go on doing so if you want.2,4,8,16...
What you do with the side branches underneath is up to you.
(I quite fancy trying it now! lol!)

I read Uncle Ben's Topping Technique and he said to pinch out (cut) it above the 2nd true node for 4 main colas.

sorry mate but when ever any oe ask me what they should do about topping/fim/lsting i always go with fim, how old are ya plants now??
if you fim them now and let them grow out you and then put them n flower you will have a nice load of kolas in that cupboard of yours, but if you top you will have to wait for it to revive its self and then the plant will start bushing out result from topping it. (were has fimming you see results in 1-3 days :))

I'm pretty patient, so I'd rather go with the best yielder compared to the quickest recovery. So to top where should I cut it for 4 colas? Just cut it where I marked and then do it again when they start to grow again?

How come everything I've read says just one cut?

What exactly is fim?
I wouldn't start FIMing till you topped. FIMing required a little more understanding of the whole cola production process. Trust me is you top first you will be better equiped if you want to upgrade to FIMing. And I would top a couple more nodes up than your first post. You dont want to top to low down. It will slow down your growth process and if you top at that area you were suggesting be prepared to add at least an extra three weeks of growing to you cycle. You are cutting a lot of growth away in that pic

I'll post some pics of good topping. Just give me a few minuted to take pics.

Here you go.

I always top early. Your plant should of been top a while back. I always start topping when the third node starts to grow in. when the plants maybe about 3 to 5 inches.

I should have topped all 4 of mine by now? Where at?

I was actually talking about your very first post pic. The four smaller plants look like there on their second node. Hard to tell from the pic. But once the reach their third node go ahead and top just like you see in my pics. Youll be fine. Once you do it once and see the growth development you will see how easy it is.
