so my plants have a mite infestation, the leaves look alright except they've got little holes in them... so i followed some advice, took some warm water and a little bathroom soap and cleaned the leaves with my hands sort of cupping the leaves at the base of the plant and moving up as to clean off any of the little blighters, bathsoap will dehydrate the leaf surface now the plant is no longer reacting to light and the leaves the mites were on are falling apart because of their eggs... any idea if its going to recover??? was such a nice plant, almost seems to have been a better idea to just leave them on the plant to eat away at the leaves

might recover, guess you mixed the soap up too strong. Anyways even if it does recover so will the mites, get some insecticidal soap made for that purpose and sprayevery week with it, let it sit on the plant and then rinse it off with water (probably what you didn't do)
Mites will get into the buds and you'll be smoking mite shit and webs unless you keep them under control.
PS you'll never get rid of them either.

As long as your grow room is separated from your living space, hang a 'Hot Shots No Pest Strip' (google it) near your plant(s).
These things kill every living thing in the room except the plant(s).
They'll have to be in there for a week or two to kill off any new hatchlings and stop the life cycle.
They can be used in the grow room up till harvest because nothing touches the plant.

Yes, they are toxic. Short term exposure to their active ingredient is fine for humans though. Just don't put it in a bag over your head and start huffing them, lol.

i just took some soapy water in mah hands and wiped the leaves in a vertical direction, now i can actually see the egg formation areas because they're a darker color, the lower leaves are wrecked because they were covered in eggs, upper leaves still stand a chance... we'll see.

No pest strips may work in a small area with one or two plants, but they WILL NOT work in a large well ventilated grow room. I don't care if you hang ten of them in there they will not work, I wish people would quit saying they do. Mighty wash by NPK works great and there is a pepper spray stickied in the bugs sub forum of marijuana problems that looks like it might work that you can make yourself for cheap.

give em the smokebomb treatment in your grow room that will exterminate the lot of the little fuckers in 15 minutes.
different sized bombs for different sized grow rooms at different prices.
i guarantee this will kill them and wont harm your plants.

here is a link :

http://www.hygienesuppliesdirect.com/th/red_spider_mite

The original and best Smoke Fumer for bedbugs, 11gram fumer not 3.5gram like other retailers kills fleas, houseflies, clusterflies, fruitflies, mosquitoes, wasps, moths, ants cockroaches and every other little fucker that annoys the hell out of your plants stored product insects including saw-toothed grain beetle and adult grain weevils the lot.

not much good for gnat larvae that is buried in the soil though its hard for the smoke to penetrate the soil.

remember and remove yourself from the grow area when you set the bomb off, dont want a lawsuit filed against me for persuading you to do a suicide bombing, LOL.

cool, i have some anti-bacterial dish washing liquid, i'll use a diluted mix of that...
just so you know .. soap is only a surfactant .. so that water won't bead on the leaves .. i'm not sure .. but soap itself will maybe knock them down , but wont kill them off ... you need something with something like pyrethrum in it but there are a few other things too ..

thats the spirit, get one of the larger bombs, make a joint and go somewhere for a puff while that bomb gets to work on everything in your whole apartment it will make light work of any scrubbing that any one wants you to do.

and dont forget when you scrub a grow room or growhouse if you miss one single mite the whole fucking light brigade comes charging back at you after a little while.

no one mentioned what mites he had.

the bomb will kill anything in its path except the plants, although i dont know about fish or animals, it might fucking kill them too if you dont be careful.

i know you can spray permithrin indoors. i don't think it works on mite eggs so you have to spray weekly. yellow pest strips are good for bugs that fly. they don't seem to work on mites. idk. sprays seems to work best for me. i use floromite also. i get it for free. but i don't spray in flower. nor should you.

That's because people using them in a large well ventilated rooms aren't exercising common sense and haven't even read the directions for their proper use.
The OP, like most of the rest of the readers on here, aren't some big commercial grow operation.

Anybody wetting down their buds with soap or pesticides during flowering, please don't ever bring that stuff around me. I don't like to smoke pesticides or mold.
