Advantages / Disadvantages, Please discuss :)
Doesn't have to be 2 x 40ft but just stick with the container underground idea which might be under your shed or something to the same effect.

Its been thought of, and done, unfortunately you have to keep 2 things in mind. 1) you need an easy way to access it. 2) It has to have ventilation. Which is how the ones that got found out got busted. Some asshole walking through the property and sees the vent and reports it. However, if you did it under a shed, depending on what you used that shed for maybe you could cover up the vent hole by giving the shed ventilation and have it use the same tube.

1st of bro, I'm only just day dreaming tbh. Well for now anyway :)
Imagine you had a big shed adjacent to your property, there would be access to the containers from the shed. There would be a big garage door to drive a van or something similar in so nobody would see you bring supplies in/out. With having secret access and if you were able to vent the place properly would this be the safest place for a commerical grow? The main problem with warehouses etc. being landlords and health and safety inspectors. House would be in rural part of Ireland on a couple acres of land with no houses in eye distance but would only be a short drive from village with supplies etc. Is this the most ideal/ safest set up?

It sounds like a setup I would be damn happy with. :blsmoke:

(hg-hydroponics couldn't have messed me about any more if they'd tried...There's someone else doing a similar service on ebay as well, with caravans, containers etc)

This is something I've thought about as well. Hiding a vent shouldn't be too much of a problem.Getting it into the ground without raising too much attention may be a drag? Sounds like you have the ideal spot though, so why not?

you would have to rent one of those huge digger things to move all that dirt out of the way. and maybe a small crane to place the thing in the hole. a truck will be able to deliver it, but not put it in the ground. i would have 2 sheds. one for ventilation, one for the entrance. or maybe even vent into and out of the house.

has anyone thought about the metal in these things rusting? theyre made out of steel right? would it be a good idea to spray the outside of it with a fiberglass layer before burying it? but then the ground wouldnt keep it as cool...

Each container would easily suck down 10 to 15 kW. This leads to two questions: how are you thinking of supplying that kind of power?
The other is, all that heat has to be dissipated. Your entry/exit shed would be a lighthouse in the infrared ... cn

a cave would be awesome too! they do stay pretty damp though. if you could take care of the humidity problem, it would be nice. just make some official looking signs that say "do not enter" and "radiation zone" and place them out front.

once on modern marvels(i think) they showed some scientists that were growing plants in an old abandoned limestone quarry. they made a little building inside that had lights in it. i dont remember what the reason they did this was. maybe the temperature? or maybe it was mushrooms or something and they were using the humidity. idk

maybe put the exhaust ducting inside of a pipe, which is then filled with water? water cooled exhaust :-P

also you can let thick vines grow over the shed and the chlorophyll will suck up the infrared. or get a giant tree that hangs over the shed. ever seen people run under trees in helicopter police chases? hell, even if a tree gets in between a car and the chopper, the car is still blocked out. maybe just plant a bunch of bushes on the roof of the shed?

There was a gigantic operation that used buried train cars that got busted a while back.... had a few in a row connected and buried. I can't imagine how much it cost to setup.

I only read a few response's. Yes you can buy them at 2500 a shot to your door. As I own two. far as putting in ground yes it has been done. someone said about rust.1 they have great primer on them ,run in salt over road and at sea with no rust issues. if you wanted tar coat. Big excavator will dig the hole and set them. just like any grow room they will need a vent. guy not that far from me had 3 in the ground until he was ratted out by someone.like anything in life the wrong person finds out your fucked. The ground stays cool so you can really put the lights to em. beings they are sealed in the dirt would be easy to hammer CO2 to them, just shut vent off and make sure well vented before ya go in.I have many years of doing excavating work and have seen some crazy stuff. Best thing to do is live in the country where no one can see what goes on at your house or tell everyone its your bomb shelter,as many of the rich people have them.

good call on the primer. i didnt think about being at sea or even just being in the rain lol. these things sound nice to have buried. but it seems like a lot of work, and needs more than one person to do. that could be a problem

Just one person could do it...trust me on that.If you live in the counrty it could be done in a weekend long as you do not screw around.

Yes it would be alot of work. Most things that are worth while take time and effort!!

A track-hoe would complete the job in no time. They're simple to operate, and can be rented pretty cheap.
I don't think anybody (at least where I live) would question the installation of a bomb or in some cases a tornado shelter.

I think thats the key. Im not a very trusting person and would find it hard to tell anyone about the set up. How did your friend get on with them under ground? Was everything going smoothly until he was ratted out? What did he do for power?
