question on dry/cure

hey guys, i chopped on friday been hanging for about 2 days now.

they still pretty sticky and not really dried out much. i bought a bunch of canning jars.

i have a perdiciment, my kids come home tomorow and my house smells like weed (i like it but ya know).

my question is can i jar them yet. i really want a proper dry/cure but i gots to get the smell under controll.

i was thinking i could jar them and leave lids open...but thats still going to smell

i really can put em outside for a day , is it good to let them sun dry? its supposed to be really nice tomorow almost 80 degrees and sunny, would this be my best bet just leave em outside and then i could bring them in for the night.

I would use the paper bag method and make sure you keep it in a cool place. I have put mine inside paper bags after the second day and set them on a tree branch in a tree. Kind of bizzare but if you need a cool place with a lil stealth behind it then thats my advice. Basically keep them out of the sun Bc it will harm the THC on the buds.

thanks thats the info i was looking for

as far as paper bag drying how much should i put in the bag? i dont want to cramp the buds, and laid out evenly i would need to fill 5-8 bags

Light degrades THC. The way to get that skunky smooth tasteing nug is you have to dry it slowley. If it's dried fast it will be crackily and hard. For a proper cure you should let it dry a few more days then jar. Jaring and leaving the lids off is kinda pointless. You could wrap them in newspaper and hang them in the rafter in your garage or shed. Still odor but your kinda outta options unless you have a tent with a carbon filter.

should i just line the side of the bag iwth bud and close it up? or leave it open? (say im laying the bag on its side to get more area)

then flip it so the other side has some dry time.

im a bit confused for the drying process seems like you want the bud to dry out as slow as possible with as little humidity as possible, am i right on that?

that actually sounds plausable, should i wrap each bud individually? that would be a bit of newspaper, and with the moistness will the ink in the paper affect anything?

it is all hung up now, i really wish i could leave it cuz in 4-5 days would be nice and ripe for a good curing >< fml i love my kids tho and i dont want to expose them to this shit. if they find it on thier own then so be it but as a parent its my job to keep it away from them :)

wich i will always support any decision my kids make and if MJ wasnt bad for you (medicly wise your lungs are not supposed to inhale smoke!!) i would def share but MJ is just as bad a ciggs (cept you get high so there is a return on destroying your organs)

I personally have never done the newspaper trick. But I personally would have left the plants mostly in tact that way the buds don't bunch together in the newspaper ( If this is the case make sure to shake em up often) I would also punch a few holes for air circulation you don't want to start your own microclimate inside the newspaper and have humidity problems. And about your drying slowely with low humidity. I had a problem on a drying one time I couldn't get the humidity above 20% for drying. It took considerable less time to dry as opposed to my normal 40-60% RH. I can honestly say I noticed a difference in the buds from the ones that dried very fast at low humidity to those that slowly dried out from the inside out. hope this helps GL

...but Sun...he has to get the shit out of the house. So Idk what else there is but brown paper bags. Closed. To keep bugs out. Don't fill the bags too much. Like a couple layers on the bottom. Keep an eye on the Rh and look at the buds often. A couple days outdoors should dry them to the point where he can put them into jars. Sound good?

A couple of days isn't long enough imho, takes me a minimum of a week to hang-dry small branches. You really want to have air-flow around the buds to dry properly, but I'm being a purist. It isn't necessary.

I believe he was trying to make clear that vaping is just a much better uptake method. All the concerns about inhaling the effects of combustion are eliminated with vaporizer usage. Plus, it seems to stretch out the "supply", you get a lot more bang for your buck with a vape.
