ive got 2 plants growing the indoor one is looking superb, and will be ready to chop in a few weeks, how ever, the one i have outside is a bit of a reject plant, i just didnt bother with it, well shes sorta pulled through, with a flower time of 6- 9 weeks.

Well this saturday is 6 weeks and im seeing a fair bit of brown/redish looking flower heads.

Shall i just chop her up, dry out and start smoking ?

In fact im surprised it even made it this far, lol @ the pathetic little flower heads....

Opinions please....

i suggest you wait a bit. PERSONALLY I like an earlier harvested bud but I think this plant here is not quite ready yet. I'd like her go another week or two. my .02

I have been out for 2 weeks now and refuse to spend a penny on dispensary meds since I am so close. It will be a nice tolerance break for me. :)

I think if you wait a few more weeks in the long run you'll be glad that you did in terms of quality, potency, and yield.

But hey it's your plant you can do what you want with it.

i hear you. we ALL hear you...it's tough being patient right now as the buds/calyxes seem to swell by the week, with more and more crystals/aroma... but I keep reminding myself "you started this project at the beginning of JUNE...there's no excuse for not being patient and waiting a few more weeks till october...going for MAXIMUM potency, yield and flavor and not going to rush ANY part of the drying/curing process. i'll smoke the final product in november and have loads of bomb christmas/new years/birthday buds


I did just go out earlier to a semi-flooded patch (staked all my plants before the tropical storm/hurricane hit us in new england)....plants were all fine but I pruned some leaves, removed some stakes and pulled a few small water-logged branches...just got home and trimmed/set them up to dry. small sacrifice to pay to avoid mold later on and save the entire crop...and i'll have some smoke here soon once it dries. other than that i'm STAYING DISCIPLINED till the end :hump:

I'm thinkin I got til Sept 22ish. I don't think before, maybe a week after. Last year I pulled my WW's just a little too soon. Def could have left them uncut for another week. I'm really excited though, last year when I chopped I felt bad, then I tore everything apart and dreamed. I kinda like that. But of course the best part was smoking it lol.

If you are out of bud... I say just buy some and stick it out. If you are going to put the time and effort into growing your own, don't rob yourself by harvesting too soon. And even when you harvest I figure you have a week of drying time and 3 to 5 weeks of cure time before you really want to smoke any. So just go buy some so you aren't tempted to rush things... And if you are thinking about chopping down already cuz you are out of smoke... You are rushing things for sure...

Yep.. Curing properly will give you that flavor and high that you want. If uncured or cured too quickly can lead a harsh, haylike, and non flavorful smoke. Take the time to cure at least some of it so you will know the difference. Trust me on this. You will wanna cure it properly every time afterwards. :)

Resist the temptation, smoking too soon is like drinking beer before it's done brewing. Buy some to hold you over and let it finish and cure right

does anybody have any solid recommendations for preventative measures against mold? mid-late september can be rainy some seasons and I want to come prepared

looking into getting a biofungicide called "serenade" which apparently doesn't smell great but is effective in stopping/preventing the most common molds in my area's conditions
