Atheists Gone Wild

These people make Atheists look bad. It's a fucking memorial that is supposed to honor the dead, and these idiots need to make a fucking fuss about it. Stop disgracing the dead with your self righteousness, and learn some respect.
That's my rant, any other opinions?

An atheist group has filed a lawsuit seeking to prevent a cross made out of World Trade Center steel beams from going on display at the 9/11 Memorial Museum. American Atheists sued this week in state court arguing that the group opposes the placement of the cross in the museum because members believe it is the only religious article getting special accommodation there. The cross, made of two intersecting steel beams, was found standing in the rubble of the World Trade Center following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
"This cross is now a part of the official WTC memorial. No other religions or philosophies will be honored. It will just be a Christian icon, in the middle of OUR memorial,” Dave Silverman, president of American Atheists, said in a release.
Silverman added that the memorial must allow atheists and other belief groups to include their own displays of equal size. For the past several years the cross has been housed at St. Peter's church. On Saturday it was permanently moved to the 9/11 Memorial Museum after a ceremonial blessing at Zuccotti Park. The 9/11 Memorial Museum, which will officially open next year, said its mission is to tell the history of the attacks through artifacts like the cross.
"This steel remnant became a symbol of spiritual comfort for the thousands of recovery workers who toiled at ground zero, as well as for people around the world," said 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels. "In the historical exhibition, the cross is part of our commitment to bring back the authentic physical reminders that tell the story of 9/11 in a way nothing else can.”

They're not Atheists, they're a bunch of stupid extremists. Atheism, to me, is just not believing in a higher power until concrete evidence can validate.

I actually agree with the "Atheists" on this subject. My personal belief is that the Cross should never be put up in the first place.

Yep, and whoever thought we should put Christ's method of murder up as a symbol for all to behold? Kinda sick if you ask me.

To me that's what it is...What if real concrete proof was found, or "god" himself were to appear before them, you think that'd change their minds a little?

My rep button is broken, it never lets me rep you even though I've repped others IDK.

Maybe they should take the cross and leave it in the church... That way religious folks can still observe it IMO.

this wasnt a cross made by someone. its a cross that stood in the rubble when everything else was demolished....at least thats what i recall. i seem to remember it standing in the one photo of all the rubble and was above everything.

there wasnt a star of david stanidng, or a crescent, or a sickle and hammer, it was a cross. BFD.

you are free to think it was a coincidence, a miracle, a sign from god, a sign from bugs bunny, who gives a rats ass.

bottom line, its actual physical stuff that was in the massive hole in the ground. what is the major malfunction with displaying it as such?

maybe it offers comfort to some. these asshats should get a life.

Makes more sense to display a piece of toast with the Image of Mary on it as a miracle than perfectly straight steel beams in the thousands falling into a cross shape. There were probably thousands of crossed beams. Just my opinion of course.

how do you know the cross represents a religion??

Did they say it would?

Or did atheists' say it represented something other then a cross of steel beams made by the falling debris?
