Which nutrients

Hi all, I have all but got my order together from my hydro supplier and the only thing I havent sorted yet is which nutrients to use.

The shop where I am ordering all my gear sells quite an overwhelming choice of nutrient solutions from a number of manufacturers.

I would be greatful if anyone could give a little input on which of the following companies nutes they find best and which ones out of their range I ought to get. I am not bothered if organic or not, just want the best for the plants.

They got

BioBizz
Canadian Xpress
Canna
General Hydroponics
Growth Technology
Vitalink

Each of these companies has a large number of different ones available so I don't know where to start.

Thanks for any help guys

Oh....

and I'm gonna have about a square meter in each of 2 rooms so how much nute shall I buy, it all comes in differnt sizes with no explaination as to how much I may use.

Thanks again

Sorry to keep adding more to this, but,

Why would I want to have a 2 part solution as opposed to a 1 part.

Tnx

Not enough info, most important is what medium are you using? What hydro method to grow? What country do you reside?

2-part formulas are because the liquid nutrients cannot be combined when in concentrated form. If so they will form compounds that are unavailable to the plant.

Canna, without a doubt - they're the best as far as I'm concerned. Biobizz (which I use) are organic soil nutrients, not suited for hydro. Canadian Xpress I don't know much about. Growth Technology do the Ionics range, good budget nutrients, but not in Canna's class.

You want the Canna Substra range, Substra Vega for vegetative, Flores for flowering and PK13/14 3 for 4 weeks prior to harvest. You should also consider the Canna Boost accelerator during flowering as well.

Canna substra comes in two formulations - Hard water and Soft water - make sure you get the right one :)

Start out with the smallest quantities, I think Canna comes in 2L bottles, that should be good for at least 3 or 4 grows, probably more.

Nice to know I have some uses then ;)

Seriously though, Canna nutrients are very good, you'll get good results from them. I shall switch to Canna nutrients for my soil grows as soon as I've used up my current Biobizz ones.

Yeah, I would have said Canna, too, although I've never used them. They have a good video on their website that shows their hydro setup using coir slabs.

So babygro, you shall switch to them? (heeheehee)

Thanks a bunch guys, it looks like its canna then.

Nice I can get my order - I was thinking for a sec when you mentioned coir, should I be looking at this? but then I thought if I dont just get on with ordering something I'll never do it!!!

Incidentally I managed to get a hanna HI9812 ph/ec/tds tester last night brand new off ebay for 50 quid, hows that for a bargin, cant seem to find an all in 1 like that for under £130+

Hi there

I managed to get all of them except canna boost accelerator, my supplier doesnt sell that - is it ok to use a different booster with the canna range or best if I find this elsewhere?

BTW I got the canna stuff in 1L bottles so I'll see how that goes I suppose.

Thx again

Pot, I certainly will ! :)

I didn't know too much about nutrients when I started (some say I still don't!) and was advised to go with the Biobizz organic range in conjuction with their Allmix soil. Subsequent to that, and talking in some detail to people who do know a fair amount about nutrients, it appears that the Canna Bio Boost (not Boost accelerator) is the key to getting the most out of the Canna organic soil nutrient range. It's 35 quid for 250 mil! So not cheap, but quite phenomenal in flowering along with their other Bio products.

So yeah, I'm going to move over to Canna Professional soil, Bio Vega, Flores and Boost once ive used up my Biobizz nutrients. I'm a big believer in keeping things simple (unless you really know what you're doing) and going with a makers full range, I did that with Biobizz and will do the same with Canna.

So is it bio boost or boost accelerator that I need to use with the canna substra range.

Big thanks!

You want the Boost Accelerator, I don't know if you can use the Bio boost in hydro, I'm pretty sure you cant.

Yeah I checked, you can't use Bio Boost in hydro, use Boost Accelerator - it's the same thing, but Bio Boost is more expensive because it's organic and for use in soil.

Ok thanks baby

It doesn't seem to be too much cheaper tho, or at least not in the place where I have looked thus far.
