I could invent a story about how sickened I am that we went to osama's house and murdered him in cold blood and guarantee replies though. Dissent always does the trick.
You could. I am not sickened, I am conflicted. Pissed you didnt think of it first?

The news reports mentioned the toy gun being close to the body.

Taking the law into your own hands, well kind of makes the whole country look like everyone comes from Texas, not saying that's a bad thing just saying...

I'm glad he got what was expected, it's to bad you can't die 3000 times

Seriously? Humans do not require a host body to survive...

Next...
I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here on earth.

It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I've realised that you are not actually mammals.

Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural
equilibrium with the surrounding environment. But you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area.

There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is?

A virus.

Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. A plague in need of a cure.

Kudos if anyone gets the reference right without google. :)

Just because were not classified as a Virus by our scientific standards does not mean that we do not do the same thing that a Virus does. Were doing the same thing to our planet broski that a virus does to a biological host. Ever think were just the next step up but on a galactic scale?

It sounds great but it doesnt really apply.

Natural resources have not been consumed. There is not a significant portion of the earth that has been left unusable by humans. (local disasters may not apply).

Water has not been destroyed, air has not been destroyed, trees have not been destroyed, etc...

So, it is flowery rhetoric without factual basis.

All species adapt to their environment and try to expand their base. This is not limited to anything on the earth. Look at the problems the southeast has with the kutzu vine. It climbs all over everything and kills it. It is not a virus, it does not seek equilibrium... There are many species of creatures that kill everything in their territory if possible. Ant colonies on the move in Africa are a great example. Not exactly living in equilibrium eh?

We are a biofilm across a minor portion of the surface of the planet and not much would change if we disappeared completely tomorrow.

Mankind is so fucking arrogant...

Point taken, however you cant honestly think that were having a positive effect on this planet and you could in fact easily draw parallels to a virus/host relationship with us and our planet.

i think its obvious we do alot of harm to this planet lol. cars fuck up the air, BP fuck up the water, and we're cutting tree's down instead of hemp. another thing i "heard" is we humans kill off 200 species EVERYDAY. But, they also said something like they estimate 75% of the species out there is still undiscovered. so i guess that makes me feel a little better?.?

When you start putting numbers and "facts" in your posts, you should be citing sources.

ya ur right, but to be honest, im lazy. i figured if u strike what i say interesting, youd prob look it up yourself, and then prob correct me with some exact numbers

Once I asked one of my professor's to do my research for me. Wait, no I didn't, that's not how presenting an argument works.

Define positive.

There is this mindset out there that man is not natural and what he creates is not part of nature. I disagree with those premises.

We take fossil fuels that have lain dormant for millions upon millions of years and burn them for fuel. Is the earth harmed by turning these hydrocarbons into carbon?

Honestly, what have we used up? What have we destroyed? The earth is an ever changing landscape of violent eruptions, earthquakes, floods, meteor strikes, etc... Some of which dwarf the entire history of man in terms of sheer energy produced.

Can I draw parallels? Sure.. But I can draw parallels to many things that do not result in the same conclusion.

Think it through for yourself and you will see how transparent these arguments are.

Sure, it is really romantic and altruistic to say you want to save the planet. Everybody wants to save the planet. Save the planet from what?

In America at least, our pollution standards have never been higher, the water never cleaner, the corporations never more constrained by environmentalism. FFS, there used to be so much pollution that a river in America actually caught on fire. None of that exists anymore. We have taken massive strides to keep the environment clean.

As far as effect on the planet, positive is a value judgement... Values exist only in the realm of human beings. The earth doesnt care one way or the other. It is not sentient, it has no feelings at all.

I feel what we are doing with the planet is positive for mankind... Some people dont want to put mankind first.

You do realize that when the earth was formed the atmosphere was methane? It has transformed over billions of years to have almost 20% oxygen. Oxygen is an extremely nasty caustic gas that is the byproduct of plant exhalation. Yes, we breathe plant shit... The entire atmosphere is a giant dumping ground of plant waste in the form of oxygen. We live in a massive gas garbage dump and thrive on it...

And you think your car pollutes??? ROFLMAO Pullease....

I usually just tell these Prius driving environerds that I don't give a fuck about the environment, and that's enough to get them to stop preaching the green lifestyle to me.

The premise that man is not part of nature and thus everything he creates is not natural has always been laughable to me...
